MUMBAI — The Westin Mumbai Garden City has promoted Chef Sameer Karkare to Executive Sous Chef, recognising a career built through progressive roles within the property and across leading Mumbai hospitality brands.
Karkare previously served as Chef de Cuisine at Prego, the hotel's Italian restaurant.
Chef Sameer Karkare Builds Career Across Mumbai's Leading Hotel Kitchens
Before his promotion, Karkare contributed to restaurant launches across India as a Culinary Development Chef, covering concept development, menu engineering, kitchen setup and team training. His career also includes tenures at Novotel Mumbai Juhu Beach, Cin Cin BKC, The Leela Mumbai, Taj Lands End and InterContinental Marine Drive.
He holds a degree in Hotel Management and Catering Operations.
Three-Time Silver Medallist and Multiple Industry Award Recipient
Sameer Karkare is a three-time Silver Medallist at the Great Indian Culinary Challenge, having won in 2011, 2012 and 2013. He has also received the International Hospitality Day Award from IHC-IIHM, a Trainer of the Month Award and a Care for Associates Award. He was twice nominated for the S.T.A.R.S. Recognition Award during his time at Taj Lands End.
New Role Covers Culinary Operations and Kitchen Leadership
In his new position, Karkare will oversee culinary operations across the hotel, drive menu innovation and maintain quality and guest satisfaction standards.
