HYDERABAD, May 25, 2026: Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has opened Ginger Hyderabad, Genome Valley, a 75-room lean luxe property in the heart of Hyderabad's life sciences corridor, marking the first branded hotel to open in the Genome Valley industrial cluster in more than two decades of its existence. The property features Ginger's signature all-day dining concept Qmin and meeting spaces for corporate gatherings, and was developed in partnership with Madison, the hospitality platform of Terminus Group and JV Ventures.
The "first branded hotel" description is not a routine marketing qualifier. Genome Valley is one of the most concentrated life sciences clusters in Asia, home to global pharmaceutical companies, biotech firms, research institutions, and manufacturing facilities, and it has operated for over two decades without a single branded accommodation option within the corridor. Scientists, executives, and project teams visiting the cluster have had to commute from the wider Hyderabad market or make do with unbranded options. Ginger Genome Valley ends that gap today.
What Ginger Hyderabad Genome Valley offers
The 75-room property delivers Ginger's lean luxe format, a positioning that sits above budget but does not carry the pricing or overhead of full-service hospitality. Rooms are designed for the working traveller: efficient, contemporary, well-equipped, and free of the amenities that extend cost without adding practical value for corporate guests. Two room types are available, Luxe Queen and Luxe Twin, each at 194 sq ft with city views, mini-fridges, blackout curtains, and free high-speed Wi-Fi.
Qmin, IHCL's all-day dining concept, anchors the food and beverage offering. Meeting spaces for small corporate gatherings are available on-site. Free parking, 24-hour front desk service, and self-service laundry complete a setup built around the practical rhythm of extended business stays rather than weekend leisure.
Why Genome Valley needed this hotel
Genome Valley sits in the Shamirpet area of northern Hyderabad, anchored by the state government's deliberate investment in creating a globally competitive life sciences hub. The cluster draws a consistent flow of corporate visitors, clinical researchers, regulatory affairs professionals, procurement executives, and pharmaceutical company leadership, whose accommodation needs are predictable, recurrent, and quality-sensitive in a way that unbranded options cannot reliably satisfy.
S. P. Reddy, CMD, Terminus Group and Co-Founder, Madison, placed the opening in that context directly.
"The region has emerged as a critical hub for life sciences and innovation. Ginger Genome Valley will be a catalyst for the industrial ecosystem, supporting the Genome Valley industrial corridor with its modern business facilities and social spaces to foster collaboration within this dynamic ecosystem. This partnership marks the first comprehensive hospitality play within the cluster in more than two decades."
— S. P. Reddy, CMD, Terminus Group and Co-Founder, Madison
The phrase "first comprehensive hospitality play in more than two decades" carries its own weight. It is not that demand was absent; it is that no branded operator had acted on it until now. For IHCL and Madison, that gap is the opportunity.
Deepika Rao on Ginger's role in IHCL's midscale strategy
Deepika Rao, Executive Vice President, New Businesses and Hotel Openings, IHCL, framed the opening inside the broader trajectory of midscale corporate demand across India.
"The midscale segment continues to see strong demand, driven by the evolving needs of corporate travellers seeking efficient, accessible and contemporary hospitality offerings. Ginger, with its lean luxe positioning, is well aligned to address this need. The opening of Ginger Hyderabad, Genome Valley strengthens our presence in a high-growth micro-market and reflects our continued focus on expanding the brand across key commercial corridors."
— Deepika Rao, Executive Vice President – New Businesses & Hotel Openings, IHCL
The term "micro-market" is precise and intentional. Genome Valley is not a city. It is a defined industrial corridor with its own contained demand pattern. That specificity, targeting not just Hyderabad as a city but Genome Valley as a distinct hospitality micro-market, is the logic behind Ginger's entire commercial expansion strategy, and it is one that works precisely because the brand's lean format is economically viable in corridors where a full-service property would not be.
The Madison partnership and what comes after Genome Valley
The Genome Valley opening is the first delivery of a larger commitment. In August 2025, IHCL signed a framework agreement with Madison, the joint hospitality platform of Terminus Group and JV Ventures, to develop 10 Ginger hotels across South India under an operating lease model, adding more than 1,000 rooms to the Ginger portfolio. Madison has committed an estimated INR 500 crore investment across the 10 properties over the next three years, spanning industrial towns, pilgrimage sites, and emerging business hubs across the southern states.
Jasmeet Chhabra, Co-Founder, JV Ventures, described the scope of what is being built. "Madison will develop 10 Ginger hotels with an estimated INR 500 crore investment across South India in the next three years, bringing modern, midscale hospitality to high-potential towns." Genome Valley is where that build begins.
Ginger Hotels and IHCL's wider commercial corridor strategy
IHCL operates a portfolio of 630 hotels, including 255 in the pipeline, across four continents, 15 countries and over 300 locations. The Ginger brand is the group's strategic instrument for the midscale segment, positioned to work across metro cities, state capitals, commercial centres, industrial townships, pilgrimage sites and leisure destinations simultaneously.
The Genome Valley opening takes Ginger into a geography that other hospitality brands have long overlooked. That is the pattern the brand is building: not chasing the same ten Tier 1 markets that every operator covets, but reading the demand that already exists in corridors that have grown commercially significant without the hospitality infrastructure to match. Genome Valley is one such corridor. The Madison pipeline will deliver nine more.
