Global Hotel Alliance (GHA) has outlined its strategy to capture rising outbound travel demand from India in 2026, citing increased international bookings, higher spending levels and growing loyalty program engagement among Indian travelers, the organization said in a recent update on its global operations and market priorities.

GHA said Indian outbound travel has accelerated in early 2026, with travelers booking stays across Europe, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific markets. The alliance, which operates a network of independent hotel brands, confirmed that Indian guests are contributing a growing share of international room nights and revenue.

Indian outbound demand drives global bookings

The organization reported that Indian travelers are increasingly choosing international destinations for both leisure and business trips, with longer average stays and higher per-booking values recorded compared to previous years. GHA said demand has been particularly strong in key gateway cities and resort destinations.

Officials noted that Indian outbound travel has been supported by improved flight connectivity and expanded airline capacity, enabling easier access to international markets. “India continues to be one of the fastest-growing outbound markets in our network,” a GHA representative said.

Loyalty program engagement increases

Data from GHA’s loyalty platform showed increased membership activity among Indian users, with higher frequency of bookings and reward redemptions recorded in 2026. The organization said Indian members are actively using loyalty benefits for international stays.

The alliance added that repeat bookings from Indian travelers have risen, indicating stronger engagement with branded hotel networks. This has contributed to higher direct booking volumes across participating properties.

Strategic focus on Indian market

GHA said it is strengthening partnerships with hotel brands and expanding its presence in India to support outbound demand. The organization is working with member hotels to tailor offerings and marketing strategies for Indian travelers.

Officials confirmed that the strategy includes targeted promotions, customized packages and enhanced digital engagement aimed at Indian consumers. The alliance is also aligning its distribution channels to improve access for Indian travelers booking international stays.

International destinations see increased demand

According to GHA, Indian travelers are increasingly visiting destinations in Europe, the Middle East and Southeast Asia, with demand driven by leisure travel, business trips and multi-destination itineraries. The organization said these travel patterns are contributing to higher overall spending.

Hotel operators within the alliance reported increased occupancy linked to Indian outbound travel, particularly during peak travel periods and holiday seasons. GHA noted that Indian guests are also spending more on dining and ancillary services during their stays.

Market outlook and expansion plans

GHA said it expects outbound travel from India to continue growing through 2026, supported by economic factors and rising consumer confidence. The organization plans to expand its network of partner hotels in key international destinations to accommodate this demand.

Executives added that India remains a priority market for long-term growth, with continued investment planned in technology, loyalty programs and partnerships to support traveler engagement.

Current status

Global Hotel Alliance confirmed that its India-focused outbound travel strategy is currently being implemented, with ongoing monitoring of booking trends and expansion of partnerships expected to continue throughout 2026.
