IHG signs InterContinental Eros New Delhi Nehru Place hotel, expanding luxury brand presence in India
IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed InterContinental Eros New Delhi Nehru Place, strengthening its premium brand portfolio in India’s capital city.
IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed the InterContinental Eros New Delhi Nehru Place hotel in New Delhi, India, in March 2026, the company said, marking the expansion of its InterContinental brand in the capital through a strategic partnership with property owners at a key commercial district.
The hotel, located in Nehru Place in South Delhi, will operate under the InterContinental brand following the agreement, strengthening IHG’s presence in one of India’s largest business hubs. The property is positioned to serve both corporate and international travellers due to its proximity to commercial offices and transport links.
Agreement and property transition
IHG confirmed that the signing involves the rebranding and continued operation of the existing Eros Hotel under the InterContinental flag. The transition will be carried out in phases to align the property with brand standards.
The company said the agreement has been executed with the hotel’s ownership group, with IHG providing brand, operational systems and global distribution support. The property will be integrated into IHG’s portfolio once the transition process is completed.
Officials stated that the move is part of IHG’s broader strategy to expand its luxury and upper-upscale brands in key Indian cities.
Location and market significance
The hotel is situated in Nehru Place, a major commercial and IT district in New Delhi, with access to business centres, retail areas and public transport infrastructure. The location is a key factor in attracting business travellers and event-based demand.
Industry participants said properties in South Delhi benefit from consistent occupancy driven by corporate activity, conferences and international delegations. The area also provides connectivity to Indira Gandhi International Airport.
IHG said the signing reflects its focus on strengthening its footprint in high-demand urban markets across India.
Brand expansion strategy in India
IHG Hotels & Resorts has been expanding its presence in India through a mix of new developments, conversions and management agreements. The InterContinental brand represents the company’s flagship offering in the luxury segment.
Executives said India remains a priority growth market, with demand driven by rising domestic travel and increasing international arrivals. The company is targeting both metropolitan and emerging destinations for expansion.
The signing adds to IHG’s existing portfolio in Delhi-NCR, where it operates multiple properties across different brand segments.
Operational and development plans
IHG said the property will undergo upgrades and enhancements to meet InterContinental brand standards, including improvements to guest rooms, public areas and service infrastructure. The transition process will be implemented without significant disruption to ongoing operations.
The hotel is expected to continue offering accommodation, dining and event facilities during the transition phase. Staff training and system integration will be conducted as part of the rebranding process.
Officials added that the property will be connected to IHG’s global reservation and loyalty platforms upon completion of the transition.
