JW Marriott Mathura Signs Resort in Kosi Kalan
JW Marriott Mathura signing sees Marriott International partner with Espire Hospitality to launch a 151-key resort in Kosi Kalan, set to open in 2029.
New Delhi, April 2026: Marriott International has signed an agreement with Espire Hospitality Limited to introduce the JW Marriott brand to Kosi Kalan in Mathura, marking a strategic expansion into an emerging destination along the Delhi–Agra corridor.
The upcoming JW Marriott Kosi Kalan Resort & Spa is anticipated to open in January 2029 and will strengthen Marriott’s luxury portfolio in India while tapping into growing demand for experience-led travel in non-metro locations.
151-key luxury resort planned across 14 acres
The project will feature 151 guestrooms, suites, and villas spread across approximately 14 acres of landscaped surroundings. The development is designed to offer a mix of contemporary luxury and culturally inspired architecture, aligning with the heritage of the Mathura region.
The resort aims to cater to leisure, spiritual, and transit travellers, given its strategic location along the high-traffic Delhi–Agra highway and proximity to key religious destinations.
Dining, wellness, and recreation offerings
The property is expected to include three dining venues, including a specialty restaurant, along with multiple lounge bars and a rooftop pool bar.
In addition, the resort will feature multiple swimming pools, a fitness centre, Spa by JW, a Kid’s Club, and recreational facilities such as tennis and multi-purpose courts, positioning it as a full-service luxury destination.
Focus on weddings and MICE segment
The development will include significant event infrastructure, with approximately 950 square metres of indoor event space and around 2,395 square metres of outdoor lawns.
This positioning highlights a strong focus on India’s growing weddings and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) segment, with additional features such as a dedicated bridal suite enhancing its appeal as a destination venue.
Strategic expansion into emerging markets
The signing reflects Marriott’s broader strategy of expanding its luxury brands beyond traditional metro cities into emerging destinations with strong tourism potential. Kosi Kalan’s connectivity and proximity to Mathura and Vrindavan position it as a key gateway for both leisure and religious travel.
For Espire Hospitality, the partnership aligns with its strategy of building a high-impact luxury portfolio through collaborations with global brands, while leveraging India’s growing demand for premium hospitality experiences.
Rising focus on non-metro luxury development
The project underscores a wider trend in India’s hospitality sector, where developers and operators are increasingly targeting tier II and emerging destinations. Improved infrastructure, rising domestic travel, and demand for experiential stays are driving this shift.
The JW Marriott Kosi Kalan Resort & Spa is expected to contribute to the evolving hospitality landscape of the Mathura region, supporting tourism growth and enhancing the availability of high-end accommodation in the area.
