Meghalaya Tourism is entering a new phase of growth with plans for eight new five-star hotels, a FIFA-certified football stadium, and major infrastructure projects across the state. Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma announced the developments during the North East India Infrastructure Summit and Exhibition 2026 in Shillong.

According to the Chief Minister, the state had no five-star hotels a few years ago. Over the last five years, two luxury properties have become operational. Agreements have now been signed for eight additional five-star hotels Meghalaya is expected to welcome in the coming years.
