Portfolio crosses 100 hotels across Africa

The company’s recent activity includes entry into new markets such as the Democratic Republic of Congo and Zimbabwe, alongside continued growth in existing regions. The addition of 2,500 rooms through new signings highlights sustained development momentum driven by rising demand for quality accommodation across business and leisure segments.

Key growth markets drive expansion strategy

Radisson is intensifying its focus on high-demand markets such as Nigeria, Morocco, and South Africa, where hospitality demand is increasing alongside infrastructure development and tourism growth.

Nigeria remains a central market, with 13 Radisson hotels currently operational and additional projects in development. A major project in Abuja is expected to add more than 450 rooms by 2026, strengthening the group’s presence in the country’s capital and supporting business travel demand.

In South Africa, expansion is focused on both primary cities such as Cape Town and secondary destinations including Durban and Pretoria. The company is also targeting leisure-driven locations such as Kruger National Park, Sun City, and the Garden Route, reflecting a broader strategy to capture both urban and resort demand.

New hotel developments across multiple regions

Radisson’s pipeline includes several notable projects across Africa. In the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Radisson Blu Hotel Kinshasa will feature 110 rooms and a range of amenities, while a second property in Lubumbashi is scheduled to open in 2027.

Morocco is set to see further expansion with the Radisson Blu Hotel & Conference Center in Casablanca Bouskoura, expected to open in 2027, alongside the Radisson Hotel & Apartments Rabat Technopolis, targeting business travellers in a growing innovation hub.

In Egypt, the group is developing the Radisson Resort Ain Sokhna Groove, a 469-room property scheduled for completion in 2029. The resort will include a private beach, multiple dining outlets, and event facilities. Additionally, serviced apartments are planned in Sheikh Zayed City near Cairo to cater to extended-stay demand.

Further expansion in Nigeria includes the Radisson Hotel Aba, a 120-room property expected to open by 2031, aimed at supporting growing commercial activity in the region.

Conversion strategy accelerates growth

A key component of Radisson’s expansion has been its focus on hotel conversions. Over the past five years, the group has converted more than 15 properties, adding nearly 3,000 rooms to its portfolio. This approach has enabled faster market entry while maintaining brand standards.

Recent signings also include flagship developments such as Radisson Blu Kinshasa, Radisson Blu Resort Casablanca, and a resort and conference center in Zanzibar, contributing to both urban and resort segment growth.

Rising tourism demand supports expansion

The expansion reflects broader growth in Africa’s tourism and hospitality sector, with increasing demand from both domestic and international travelers. Countries such as South Africa, Morocco, and Nigeria are emerging as key destinations for business travel, cultural tourism, and leisure experiences.

Radisson’s strategy combines new developments, conversions, and targeted expansion into high-growth regions, positioning the group to strengthen its presence across the continent while supporting evolving accommodation demand.
