Cedar 1905 Michelin Guide Restaurant status has come just six months after opening for a Cotswolds dining room that offers the best of the region. Cedar 1905 sits inside the Grade II listed country manor Dumbleton Hall. It opened in April and has already been featured in The Michelin Guide.

Dumbleton Hall is near Evesham. It reopened earlier this year after new owners turned it into an elegant countryside hotel. Cedar 1905 serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The menu includes day boat fish and estate sourced game.

What the Michelin Guide Said

A Michelin Guide spokesperson described the restaurant as elegant, with extensive grounds and gardens. Lebanese Cedar trees are a feature and give the restaurant its name. Two of them stand majestically outside the dining room.

The guide said the cooking focuses on honest, satisfying flavours in classically based dishes with a pared back style. Natural flavours are allowed to shine in dishes such as well seasoned lamb rump and shoulder with peas, asparagus and couscous. This adds to the growing list of Michelin Guide restaurants in the Cotswolds.

The History of Dumbleton Hall

The manor was built in 1830. It has a rich history as a salon for intellect and creativity. Guests once included Elizabeth Gaskell, Charles Darwin and Charles Dickens. Under the Eyres Monsell family, visitors included the Mitford sisters and John Betjeman.

During the Second World War, the hall housed the Women's Land Army. It became a hotel in the years that followed. The refurbished design draws on the Belle Époque and the Roaring Twenties. It features Neoclassical details, antique furnishings and William Morris prints.

Stay at Dumbleton Hall

The hotel has 34 bedrooms. Each room is individually styled to evoke the warmth of a private country home. Guests can pair a stay with a meal at Cedar 1905. For operators, the story shows how heritage buildings and strong dining can work together.
