Luckin Coffee has expanded its New York City operations by introducing self-ordering kiosks across its local stores while opening two additional outlets in the city. The technology rollout marks a significant shift for the Chinese coffee chain, which has relied exclusively on its mobile ordering app since entering the U.S. market last year.

Digital Ordering Strategy Expands Beyond Mobile App

The new self-ordering kiosks provide customers with an alternative way to purchase beverages without downloading or using Luckin Coffee's mobile application. The addition broadens the company's digital ordering ecosystem and makes its stores more accessible to walk-in customers.

Until now, all transactions at Luckin Coffee's New York City locations were processed exclusively through the brand's mobile app, reflecting the technology-driven operating model that has supported its rapid expansion in China and international markets.

Two New Stores Open in Manhattan

Alongside the kiosk rollout, Luckin Coffee has opened two new locations in Manhattan. The latest stores are situated at Grand Central Terminal and at the corner of 48th Street and 3rd Avenue, officially welcoming customers on Tuesday.

With these additions, the company now operates around 20 locations across New York City after launching in the market last year. Both new outlets serve the chain's complete beverage menu, including espresso-based drinks, refreshers, teas and specialty coffee beverages.

To mark the openings, Luckin Coffee is offering complimentary beverage sampling from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. during the first week of operation.

Technology Supports U.S. Growth Strategy

The introduction of self-ordering kiosks aligns Luckin Coffee with a technology increasingly adopted across the U.S. quick-service restaurant industry. By expanding beyond app-only ordering, the company aims to improve accessibility while maintaining its digital-first operating model.

The kiosk initiative represents another step in Luckin Coffee's strategy to strengthen its position in the competitive U.S. coffee market, where established coffee specialists and major quick-service restaurant brands continue to compete for consumers.

Global Coffee Chain Continues International Expansion

Founded in 2017, Luckin Coffee has grown rapidly from a domestic Chinese coffee chain into an international operator with more than 35,000 locations worldwide. Its business model has been built around digital ordering, operational efficiency and technology-enabled customer experiences.

The company's continued expansion in New York City reflects its broader international growth ambitions as it introduces its technology-focused coffee retail model to new markets. The addition of self-ordering kiosks further adapts that model to customer preferences in the United States while supporting future store growth.
