NEW YORK, N.Y., June 3, 2026 — Shaver Hall, a 35,000-square-foot food hall built inside the former Lord & Taylor flagship at 424 Fifth Avenue, is set to open in late June 2026, bringing 11 chef-driven vendors, two full-service restaurants, a cheese conveyor belt, a 12-seat omakase counter and a live entertainment stage to the heart of Midtown Manhattan.

Operated by The Food Hall Co., the Texas-based hospitality company behind Legacy Hall in Plano and Assembly Food Hall in Nashville, Shaver Hall marks the group's first New York City project and its most ambitious undertaking to date. The venue occupies the ground floor of Amazon's Hank Building, the landmarked Beaux-Arts tower that Amazon acquired for nearly $1 billion in 2020 and converted to office use in 2023.

Shaver Hall Brings a Landmark Back to the Public

The building at 424 Fifth Avenue, designed by Starrett & van Vleck and constructed in 1914, served as the Lord & Taylor flagship for more than a century before the department store closed in 2019. The New York City Landmarks Preservation Committee designated the structure a landmark in 2007.

With Shaver Hall's opening, the building's ground floor becomes publicly accessible for the first time in six years. The food hall takes its name from Dorothy Shaver, who served as president of Lord & Taylor during the mid-20th century and built the store's reputation as a destination for accessible, well-designed goods.

"This project has been in the works for over three years," said Randy DeWitt, co-founder of The Food Hall Co. "We see Shaver Hall as a chance to reimagine the food hall experience in Midtown creating a space built for connection, community and culinary discovery, with the freedom to spotlight emerging chefs and the latest food trends."

Pick & Cheese Brings London's Conveyor Belt to Fifth Avenue

Among Shaver Hall's most widely discussed tenants is Pick & Cheese, the London-born concept that serves small plates of artisan cheese from a slow-moving conveyor belt. The restaurant arrives at Shaver Hall as its first U.S. location, following outposts in London and Berlin.

Founded by Mathew Carver, creator of the London-based Cheese Bar restaurant group, Pick & Cheese grew from a mobile Cheese Truck launched at Maltby Street Market in 2014. The Shaver Hall location will feature a 200-foot conveyor belt the brand's longest yet carrying plates of American artisan cheeses, each paired with a seasonal accompaniment. Made-to-order grilled cheese, baked cheese dishes and wine on tap will round out the menu.

The Manhattan location will center its selection on American producers, with a focus on cheesemakers from the Northeast. Carver has described the goal as giving New Yorkers a way to discover regional American cheese culture in a hands-on, low-barrier format.

A 12-Seat Omakase From a Michelin-Starred Chicago Chef

The hall's most formal dining option comes from Chef B.K. Park, the Michelin-starred Chicago chef behind Mako and Juno Sushi. Park brings a 12-seat omakase counter to Shaver Hall an unusually intimate format for a food hall setting, positioned alongside casual stalls and a self-serve beer wall.

The omakase at Shaver Hall represents Park's first New York project and one of the few fine-dining concepts in the city embedded within a food hall environment.

F&F Pizzeria, Chick Chick and the Full Vendor Lineup

The confirmed stall lineup draws from established New York names and a handful of national additions. F&F Pizzeria, the Carroll Gardens restaurant operated by the team behind Brooklyn institution Frankies 457 Spuntino, opens its first Manhattan location at Shaver Hall. Chick Chick, the Korean-inspired fried chicken concept with a Michelin Bib Gourmand on its record, brings its Upper West Side operation to Midtown.

Additional confirmed vendors include Taqueria Al Pastor, serving tacos and Mexican street food; Butter Chicken Social from Sujan Sarkar, the chef behind Chicago's Michelin-starred Indienne; ZaZu Mediterranean Street Food; Tonchinette by Tonchin; PastaSole, known for its parm wheel pasta dish; Biddrina Gelato; and the first Midtown location of Tompkins Square Bagels.

Tallow Steakhouse occupies one of the hall's two full-service restaurant positions. Pick & Cheese functions as the second full-service anchor.

Design, Bodega and a 20-Tap Beer Wall

Architecture firm ZGF, known for the Portland International Airport renovation, designed the space in collaboration with interior design firm ICRAVE. The aesthetic uses jewel tones, metallic accents, warm wood finishes and woven overhead canopies to create a cohesive environment across the different stalls. Tenant signage is styled after fashion labels, a nod to the building's retail heritage.

The hall also includes a modern bodega offering grab-and-go snacks, coffee and daily provisions, alongside a self-serve 20-tap beer wall selling a range of drafts by the ounce. A central stage built into the space will host live music and entertainment events.

Shaver Hall's official website notes the venue opens late June 2026, positioning it as a base for America 250 celebrations and the July 4th period in New York City. More information is available at the Shaver Hall official website.
