NEW YORK, June 18, 2026 — Hollywood actor Neil Patrick Harris recently reviewed the food at celebrity chef Vikas Khanna’s Indian restaurant in New York City, describing several dishes as “crazy good” during a group dining experience at Bungalow in the East Village.

The visit took place earlier this week when Harris dined with lifestyle influencer Will Damron and friends at Bungalow, the Indian restaurant co-founded by Khanna and restaurateur Jimmy Rizvi. Diners sampled more than half a dozen signature dishes from the restaurant’s menu.

Earlier in the meal, the group enjoyed starters such as Banarasi Puri and Yoghurt Kebab, with Harris praising their textural contrasts and flavour balance. Anarkali Chicken, a dish featuring smoky spices and a charred finish, topped the group’s unofficial ranking of dishes.

Restaurant atmosphere and experience

Located at 24 First Avenue in New York’s East Village, Bungalow serves contemporary Indian cuisine in a setting inspired by country club aesthetics. The restaurant opened in 2024 and has gained attention for its blend of traditional flavours and modern presentation.

In addition to the meal, diners concluded with traditional Indian desserts, including Mango Three Ways and rose kulfi. The dining experience reflects Khanna’s broader mission to elevate Indian gastronomy on the global stage.

Why this review matters

Harris’ review underscores growing interest in Indian cuisine among international audiences and adds a high-profile endorsement for Khanna’s restaurant. Bungalow has already been included in the Michelin Guide for New York City and remains difficult to reserve due to high demand.

As a judge on the popular competitive series MasterChef India, Khanna continues to bridge culinary culture between India and the United States. His New York restaurant now attracts local diners and visiting celebrities alike, marking it as a notable destination in the city’s diverse dining landscape.
