Anantara Somabay Resort Expands Egypt Luxury Hospitality

Anantara Somabay Resort is set to strengthen Egypt luxury hospitality after Minor Hotels announced the signing of a new luxury resort and branded residences project on the Red Sea coast.

Scheduled to open in May 2030, Anantara Somabay Resort & Residences will feature 300 hotel keys along with 150 branded residential units. The development marks another major step in Minor Hotels Egypt expansion strategy while introducing the Anantara brand to one of the country’s most established integrated resort destinations.

Located within the Somabay masterplan on Egypt’s Red Sea coast, the project aims to combine luxury hospitality with premium residential living. The resort is expected to offer sea-view guestrooms, lagoon accommodations, beach villas, pool villas, and a signature Grand Royal Beach & Pool Villa designed for high-end international travellers.

The branded residences Egypt project will also include private apartments and beachfront villas equipped with dedicated boat dock piers. These residences are designed for long stays, holiday ownership, and luxury lifestyle experiences along the Red Sea.

Anantara Somabay Resort will include a wide range of wellness, leisure, dining, and family-friendly facilities. According to the company, the development is focused on delivering a relaxed resort atmosphere while maintaining premium hospitality standards associated with the Anantara brand.

Somabay is located approximately 45 minutes from Hurghada International Airport, providing convenient access to major European tourism markets and Middle Eastern destinations. The location continues attracting international travellers due to its beaches, diving experiences, luxury resorts, and year-round climate.

Amir Golbarg, Chief Operating Officer of Minor Hotels Middle East & Africa, stated that the partnership with Somabay Hotel Company SAE aligns with the company’s vision of expanding luxury hospitality and branded residences in Egypt. He added that Somabay offers strong long-term tourism fundamentals and growing international demand.

Ibrahim El Missiri, Somabay Group Chief Executive Officer, said the collaboration reflects Somabay’s long-term strategy to strengthen its position as a fully integrated luxury tourism destination on the Red Sea coast.

The launch of Anantara Somabay Resort also highlights the increasing demand for luxury resorts in Egypt as the country continues attracting investment in hospitality, residential tourism, and lifestyle-driven developments.
