MUMBAI, May 24, 2026 - Fern Hotels & Resorts has announced plans to develop The Fern Residency Chandrapur, a 57-room hotel in Maharashtra scheduled to open in December 2029. The project expands the hospitality group's footprint in the state and strengthens its presence in emerging regional markets.
The upcoming property will operate under the Series by Marriott collection, increasing Fern Hotels & Resorts’ Maharashtra portfolio to 46 operational and upcoming hotels. The company said the project aligns with its strategy to expand into tier-two and industrially developing cities across India.
Fern Hotels Chandrapur Project Targets Regional Growth
The Fern Residency Chandrapur will cater to business travelers, corporate groups and domestic leisure guests visiting eastern Maharashtra. Chandrapur serves as an important industrial district and also acts as a gateway to wildlife and eco-tourism destinations in the region.
The company said demand for organized hospitality infrastructure continues to rise in secondary cities as connectivity and regional commerce improve. Fern Hotels & Resorts has increasingly focused on markets outside major metropolitan areas to capture long-term travel demand.
“Chandrapur represents a strategically important destination with growing business activity and tourism potential,” the company said in its project announcement.
Hotel to Operate Under Series by Marriott
The property will become part of the Series by Marriott portfolio, allowing guests to access Marriott’s reservation systems and loyalty platform. The affiliation also provides global visibility for the Chandrapur property among international and domestic travelers.
According to the company, the hotel will feature modern guest rooms, dining facilities and business-focused amenities designed for mid-scale travelers. Additional operational details and room categories will be announced closer to the opening date.
The Fern Hotels & Resorts continues expanding through management agreements and strategic partnerships in regional markets where branded accommodation supply remains limited.
Maharashtra Remains Key Hospitality Market
Maharashtra remains one of India’s strongest hospitality markets due to its industrial corridors, tourism traffic and infrastructure investments. Industry analysts expect regional destinations within the state to see increased hotel development over the next several years.
Chandrapur’s proximity to industrial operations, wildlife tourism zones and transport networks has attracted interest from hospitality operators looking to expand beyond traditional urban centers.
The Fern Hotels & Resorts currently operates hotels across multiple Indian states with a focus on environmentally conscious hospitality and mid-scale accommodation offerings.
More details about the project are available on the official The Fern Hotels & Resorts website. Information about the brand’s global affiliation can also be accessed through Marriott International.
