Fusion Hotel Group and HMJ Form Pan-Asia Hospitality Platform (64)
Fusion Hotel Group joins Hotel Management Japan and Topotels under SC Capital Partners to create a 16,000-room pan-Asian hospitality platform across Asia.
HO CHI MINH CITY, June 15, 2026: Fusion Hotel Group and Hotel Management Japan (HMJ) are now moving ahead as part of the same hospitality ecosystem, following Fusion's acquisition by Suchad Chiaranussati, Founder and Chairman of SC Capital Partners, who also owns HMJ and Indonesian operator Topotels Hotels & Resorts. Together, the combined platform spans approximately 16,000 rooms across four key Asian markets, Vietnam, Thailand, Japan, and Indonesia, supported by more than 100 hospitality professionals, making it one of the larger independent hotel management platforms in the Asia Pacific region.
The two organisations are now building on that shared ownership structure with a focused operational collaboration, aligning capabilities across three areas: sales and marketing, brand and design, and human resources. The work happening between Fusion and HMJ is not simply a post-acquisition integration exercise, it is a deliberate attempt to combine two distinct regional hospitality identities into something with more reach, more capability, and more commercial depth than either organisation could build alone.
Building a stronger regional hospitality platform
The collaboration between Fusion and HMJ brings together two complementary strengths. Hotel Management Japan is one of Japan's largest hotel operators, with deep operational expertise and established positioning across the Japanese market. Fusion Hotel Group, founded in 2008 and based in Ho Chi Minh City, operates 18 properties with approximately 3,000 rooms across Vietnam and Thailand, with a secured pipeline of over 2,000 keys. Its identity is built around wellness-inspired hospitality, concept development, brand creation, and experiential guest programming that extends well beyond the standard hotel management offering.
The three pillars of the collaboration, sales and marketing, brand and design, and human resources, address the operational areas where pooling knowledge and infrastructure creates the most tangible improvement for both parties. Shared customer insights, aligned sales strategies, and integrated systems for guest engagement will allow both groups to compete more effectively for the international traveller who moves between the markets they collectively serve.
Bringing Fusion's wellness philosophy to Japan
One of the more distinctive elements of the collaboration is the planned exploration of integrating Fusion's signature wellness-led brand philosophy into selected HMJ properties. Fusion has spent more than 15 years developing wellness hospitality concepts that are genuinely embedded in the guest experience rather than added as spa-and-pool amenities on top of a conventional hotel product. Translating that approach into the Japanese hospitality context, where the market's own deep wellness traditions, from onsen culture to ikigai-led living, offer a natural alignment, represents a meaningful opportunity.
The growing global demand for hospitality experiences that combine comfort, personalisation, wellbeing, and meaningful guest connection has made wellness positioning a commercial differentiator as much as a brand philosophy. For HMJ properties that integrate elements of Fusion's approach, the result could be a product that speaks to international inbound guests while reinforcing what Japanese domestic hospitality already does well.
What Junichi Araki said about the collaboration
Junichi Araki, representing Hotel Management Japan, placed the partnership in the context of HMJ's regional ambitions.
"We are delighted to partner with Fusion Hotel Group. As a leading operator in Japan, HMJ sees tremendous potential in combining our operational strengths with Fusion's growing influence in Vietnam and Southeast Asia."
— Junichi Araki, Hotel Management Japan
Suchad Chiaranussati, the SC Capital Partners chairman whose ownership of both HMJ and Fusion created the conditions for this collaboration, has been clear about the ambition at the group level. "We're excited to integrate Fusion with our leading teams in Japan and other markets as we build a top-tier pan-Asian hotel management business," he said at the time of the acquisition announcement in March 2026.
Cross-border talent development: Vietnam, Thailand and Japan
Human resources development forms the third pillar of the operational collaboration. Fusion and HMJ plan to create cross-border training programmes that strengthen employee capabilities across Vietnam, Thailand, and Japan, a pipeline that moves knowledge and people between markets rather than developing talent in silos.
In Asian hospitality, where service culture is both a competitive advantage and a differentiating brand factor, this kind of structured knowledge exchange can produce practical improvements in guest experience consistency. A Fusion-trained wellness professional bringing experiential programme expertise to a Japanese property, or an HMJ-trained operations manager contributing Japanese service precision to a Vietnam beachfront resort, represents a genuine cross-pollination of capability.
What the combined platform looks like at scale
The SC Capital Partners hospitality ecosystem, Fusion, HMJ, and Topotels Hotels & Resorts in Indonesia, now represents approximately 16,000 rooms across four Asian markets. Fusion's 18 operating properties and 3,000+ keys in Vietnam and Thailand, combined with HMJ's portfolio in Japan and Topotels' Indonesian footprint, create a regional network with genuine depth in three of Asia's most significant hospitality markets.
For Asia's hospitality sector, where cross-border operator collaborations are becoming increasingly important for capability building and market access, this platform has the scale to compete for the kind of institutional and corporate business that requires consistent standards and known brands across multiple countries. The collaboration between Fusion and HMJ is the most visible expression of what that platform intends to build.
