Chennai, May 2026 — The latest chatter among resort operators is clear: rooms alone don’t sell summer anymore, experiences do.

GRT Hotels & Resorts has rolled out its ‘Soulful Summer Stories’ campaign across two East Coast properties, Radisson Resort Pondicherry Bay and Radisson Blu Resort Temple Bay Mamallapuram, bundling stays with activities, dining, and on-ground programming to pull in leisure travellers.

The push is built around short-haul travel. Both resorts sit within driving distance of Chennai and are easily reachable from Bengaluru. That matters now, as more guests skip flights and opt for quick weekend breaks.

Summer packages introduced with bundled pricing and inclusions

At Radisson Resort Pondicherry Bay, pricing starts at INR 13,500++ per night. The package folds in breakfast at Bay Bistro, one buffet or set-menu meal, and free stay and dining for up to two children below 10 years.

Extras are doing the heavy lifting here. Guests get Cult Tea sessions, Radisson Rewards points, and access to GReaT Kathas, an experience format built around storytelling.

And there’s a clear nod to changing guest behavior. The ‘Pet Stay Free’ offer taps into rising demand for pet-friendly travel.

Over at Radisson Blu Resort Temple Bay Mamallapuram, the pitch shifts slightly.

Breakfast and dinner at Waters Edge Café come bundled in, along with similar child-friendly benefits and access to curated activities. The property leans into its beachfront scale, targeting bigger groups and longer stays.

Experiential programming through Katha concept

The core of this campaign is ‘Katha’, developed by GRT Hotels & Resorts.

It’s not just another activity list. It blends storytelling with local culture and on-site experiences, pushing guests to engage rather than just stay.

What’s on offer:

  • Wellness sessions
  • Culinary trails
  • ATV rides and water sports
  • Cultural and heritage explorations

Some are included. Others come at a cost.

But the idea is simple, keep guests on property longer and give them reasons to spend.

Focus on drive-to leisure and coastal destinations

This campaign is aimed squarely at the drive-to segment.

Places like Pondicherry and Mamallapuram have quietly become go-to weekend escapes. No flights, no long planning cycles.

Just pack and go.

The resorts are built to catch multiple segments, families, couples, weekend travellers, even pet owners. Flexibility is the pitch.

And the mix of packages, activities, and pricing is designed to widen that net.

Hospitality trends shift toward experience-led stays

This isn’t just a summer campaign. It’s part of a bigger shift.

Hotels are no longer selling rooms in isolation. They’re packaging stays with food, activities, and moments that guests can actually feel.

Vikram Cotah, CEO of GRT Hotels & Resorts, said the goal is to make summer travel more immersive but still accessible. The Katha concept, he added, is meant to deepen how guests connect with the destination.

And that’s where the competition is heading.

Wellness, culture, outdoor activities, these are no longer add-ons. They’re becoming the main product.

With coastal locations, bundled pricing, and layered experiences, GRT Radisson Resorts is betting on one thing: guests don’t just want a stay anymore.

They want something to remember.
