Located in Mtubatuba within KwaZulu-Natal’s Zulu cultural region, the future hotel will provide travelers with access to some of South Africa’s most important wildlife and eco-tourism destinations.

The property will be situated near Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve and iSimangaliso Wetland Park, both internationally recognized tourism attractions known for safari experiences, biodiversity, and conservation tourism.

Tourism professionals believe the project will strengthen KwaZulu-Natal’s ability to attract international leisure travelers seeking safari adventures, cultural immersion, and wellness-focused travel experiences.

The Umfolozi River Hotel will feature approximately 102 guestrooms and suites along with an all-day dining restaurant, wellness spa, gymnasium, swimming pool, ballroom, and meeting facilities.

Industry experts note that lifestyle hospitality and experiential tourism continue driving demand across African tourism markets as travelers increasingly seek authentic and personalized stays.

The hotel will also emphasize connections to local Zulu culture, heritage tourism, and community engagement, supporting broader trends in experiential and sustainable tourism.

Safari tourism remains one of South Africa’s strongest tourism sectors. Destinations such as Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve continue attracting travelers interested in wildlife conservation, Big Five safaris, and eco-tourism.
