Hotel Casa Real Michelin Key: Viña Santa Rita Hotel Earns First Key

Hotel Casa Real Michelin Key is the new honour for the heritage boutique hotel of Viña Santa Rita in Chile. The Michelin Guide revealed its 2026 Keys list, and the hotel earned its first Key. The Guide recognised 20 Chilean hotels this year. Learn more on the official Viña Santa Rita website.

The Keys are the hotel equivalent of the Michelin Star for restaurants. The Guide first awarded them to Chilean hotels in 2025, when 17 properties made the list. This year, Michelin Key Hotels Chile grew to 20, and two of them are winery hotels.

Why Hotel Casa Real Michelin Key Matters for Chile

The 2026 global selection added more than 470 new establishments. They span 79 destinations. The worldwide total of Michelin Key hotels now stands at 2,832.

Hotel Casa Real sits in the heart of the Maipo Valley. It is just 45 minutes from Santiago. The hotel offers a heritage stay that blends history, culture, gastronomy and wine.

Heritage and History at Hotel Casa Real

The building was declared a National Historic Monument in 1972. German architect Teodoro Burchard designed it. Guests can explore a centenary park of 40 hectares and a neo Gothic chapel.

Historic cellars are also part of the visit. The Doña Paula restaurant pays tribute to Paula Jaraquemada and her role in Chile's independence. The Andean Museum holds more than 3,000 archaeological and ethnographic pieces from South America's native peoples.

Elena Carretero leads Corporate Affairs, Sustainability and Tourism at Viña Santa Rita. She said the award reflects the winery's commitment to preserving the history, culture and identity of Chilean wine. She added that it inspires the team to safeguard this legacy for future generations.

Hotel Manager Juan Vila called the award a recognition of the hotel's long journey. He credited the wine, gastronomy, culture and history. He also praised a team that works with passion and a strong sense of belonging.

More Awards for Hotel Casa Real

The Key adds to a growing list of honours. In 2024, Travel + Leisure named the hotel among the world's 40 best. It was also the second best in South America. Condé Nast Traveler included it in its Readers' Choice Awards in 2023, 2024 and 2025. Booking.com gave it the Traveller Review Award in 2025 and 2026.

Michelin inspectors travel anonymously and independently. Hotels receive one, two or three Keys. One Key means a very special stay. Two Keys mean an exceptional stay. Three Keys mean an extraordinary stay.
