Guwahati, May 8, 2026: Hotel Palacio, a hospitality brand based in Assam, has expanded its footprint in Northeast India with the launch of an 83-room property in Paltan Bazar, Guwahati, while simultaneously announcing an ₹800 crore investment plan to develop 10 hotels over the next decade.

The new hotel marks the brand’s second property in Guwahati and its third overall, adding to its existing presence in the city and Alipurduar. The expansion comes as Guwahati continues to strengthen its position as a key commercial and transit hub in the Northeast, driven by rising tourism, improved connectivity, and growing corporate travel demand.

83-Key Property Targets Business and Events Segment

The newly launched property has been developed in Paltan Bazar, one of Guwahati’s busiest commercial districts, positioning it to cater to both transit travellers and corporate guests. The hotel features 83 rooms across multiple categories, designed to serve a mix of business and leisure segments.

In addition to accommodation, the property includes over 6,000 square feet of indoor banquet space, a 7,000-square-foot rooftop venue, and dedicated conference rooms and boardroom facilities. These offerings are aimed at capturing demand from meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE), along with social events and corporate gatherings.

Dining and Experience-Led Offerings Introduced

As part of its guest experience strategy, the hotel has introduced Omara, a restaurant developed in collaboration with Chef Vikey Ratnani. The dining concept is positioned to enhance the property’s food and beverage offering while catering to both in-house guests and local diners.

The property will also feature a cocktail bar and listening room, designed as a social and experiential space. This addition reflects a broader industry trend toward experience-led hospitality, where hotels are increasingly integrating lifestyle-driven elements into their offerings.

₹800 Crore Expansion Roadmap Across India

Alongside the launch, Palacio Hospitality outlined a long-term expansion roadmap with a planned investment of ₹800 crore. The company aims to develop 10 properties over the next decade, focusing primarily on Northeast India while also exploring opportunities in other regions.

The expansion strategy is structured around a mix of ownership, management agreements, and lease models, enabling the company to scale its operations while maintaining financial flexibility. This asset-light approach aligns with broader industry practices, where operators are increasingly adopting diversified growth models to expand their portfolios.

The company also confirmed that Hyatt Regency Gangtok is among the projects currently under development, forming part of its broader hospitality pipeline.

Guwahati’s Role as a Regional Growth Driver

Industry stakeholders continue to identify Guwahati as a critical gateway to Northeast India, attracting a combination of business, transit, and leisure travellers. The city’s infrastructure development and improved connectivity have contributed to rising demand for organised hospitality services.

The launch of the Paltan Bazar property reflects the brand’s focus on strengthening its presence in key urban centres within the region. By expanding within Guwahati, the company aims to capitalise on increasing demand across corporate travel, events, and tourism-driven segments.

According to company leadership, the brand’s growth trajectory has been closely linked to the evolving hospitality landscape of the Northeast, where demand has been supported by economic activity and improved accessibility.

Expansion Aligned with Emerging Market Trends

The development also comes amid a broader shift in India’s hospitality sector, where emerging cities are witnessing increased hotel development activity. Factors such as rising disposable incomes, expanding tourism circuits, and infrastructure upgrades are driving demand for new hotel supply beyond traditional metropolitan markets.

Hotel Palacio’s expansion strategy reflects this trend, with a continued focus on regional markets while gradually exploring opportunities across the country. The company’s approach combines operational consistency with scalable growth models, positioning it to respond to evolving market dynamics.
