New Delhi, May 2026: Beachfront inventory in Goa is tightening fast, and Indian Hotels Company Limited is moving early to lock in its next play. The Tata Group hospitality arm has signed a 175-key greenfield resort in South Goa near Colva Beach, taking its tally in the state to 25 hotels. The project will sit under the Gateway brand, doubling down on a market that rarely cools off.

175-key Gateway resort planned near Colva Beach

The upcoming Gateway Resort Colva Beach Road, Goa will rise on a 2.9-acre plot overlooking Colva Beach. It will house 175 rooms and is being pitched squarely at leisure travellers, destination weddings, and corporate offsites.

Expect the usual full-service mix, an all-day dining restaurant, a specialty outlet, and a bar. There’s also a swimming pool, fitness centre, and treatment rooms baked into the plan.

But the real money-maker? A roughly 7,000 sq ft ballroom, backed by outdoor lawns.
That’s wedding and events business, big-ticket, high-margin, and year-round.

Partnership with Dempo Group for greenfield project

IHCL is teaming up with Dempo Group for this greenfield build, a move that leans on Goa’s steady tourism engine and long-term upside.

Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President, Real Estate and Development at IHCL, said the signing reinforces the company’s long-standing bet on Goa, where it has operated for over five decades.

Shrinivas V. Dempo, Chairman of Dempo Group, kept it simple, Goa still sells.
And it sells to both domestic and international travellers, driven by its coastline and established tourism circuit.

IHCL expands footprint to 25 hotels in Goa

With this deal, IHCL’s Goa portfolio will hit 25 hotels, including seven in the pipeline.

That’s not small expansion. That’s market dominance.

Goa remains a core territory for IHCL, powered by strong domestic travel, steady leisure demand, and its ability to pull crowds across seasons—holidays, weddings, and corporate events alike.

Goa continues to attract hospitality investments

Goa continues to sit at the top of India’s tourism map. Beaches, heritage structures, and a strong food culture keep the demand engine running.

And developers know it.

New projects are now pushing beyond saturated hotspots into emerging pockets, especially in South Goa, where there’s still room to build without the chaos of overdevelopment.

IHCL’s latest signing fits right into that shift, expand smart, not just fast.

Focus on leisure, weddings and MICE demand

The design brief says it all: big event spaces, leisure-heavy amenities, and flexible gathering areas.

This is a resort built for weddings, social functions, and MICE demand.

And that segment is booming.

Hotels aren’t just selling rooms anymore, they’re selling complete experiences under one roof. Goa, with its connectivity and brand pull, remains one of the easiest places to make that model work.

IHCL is clearly betting that the next phase of growth won’t just be about occupancy.

It’ll be about who captures the events, and keeps guests spending on property.
