Ixigo partners with Swiggy to enable onboard food delivery for train passengers across India
Ixigo has partnered with Swiggy to offer onboard food delivery services for train passengers across India, expanding travel convenience in April 2026.
Ixigo has partnered with Swiggy to enable onboard food delivery services for train passengers across India, the companies said in April 2026, aiming to improve passenger convenience by integrating meal ordering into train journeys through digital platforms.
The service allows passengers to order food from Swiggy’s network of restaurants and have it delivered directly to their seats at designated railway stations during travel, the companies said.
Partnership integrates food delivery with train travel
Ixigo confirmed that the collaboration integrates Swiggy’s food delivery capabilities into its train travel platform, allowing users to browse menus and place orders while booking tickets or during their journey. The service is accessible through Ixigo’s app and website.
A company spokesperson said the initiative is designed to streamline food access for rail passengers by offering a wider range of meal options beyond traditional pantry services.
Service available at multiple railway stations
The companies said the onboard delivery service will be available across a network of railway stations where Swiggy operates, covering major routes and high-traffic travel corridors. Orders are timed to be delivered when trains halt at selected stations.
Passengers can select delivery stations in advance and track order status in real time through the platform, according to the companies.
Focus on improving passenger experience
Ixigo stated that the partnership is part of its broader effort to enhance the end-to-end travel experience by integrating additional services into its platform. The company said food delivery is a key requirement for long-distance travelers.
Swiggy said the collaboration expands its presence into the railway travel segment, enabling access to a new category of users and use cases beyond home and office deliveries.
Operational model and logistics
The companies said restaurant partners prepare orders based on train schedules, with delivery personnel coordinating with station timings to ensure timely handover to passengers. The system is designed to align with train arrival and departure windows.
Officials added that the service leverages existing logistics infrastructure, with additional coordination mechanisms introduced to manage station-based deliveries.
Digital adoption in railway services
Industry participants have noted increasing adoption of digital services in railway travel, including ticketing, seat selection and ancillary offerings such as meals. The integration of food delivery platforms reflects a shift toward app-based service ecosystems.
The companies said the service is expected to expand to additional routes and stations based on demand and operational feasibility.
As of April 2026, the Ixigo-Swiggy onboard food delivery service has been launched and is operational across selected routes, with further expansion planned in phases.
