Lemon Tree Expands Nepal Presence with Biratnagar Hotel Launch
Lemon Tree Hotels has strengthened its international footprint with the launch of a new property in Nepal. The Lemon Tree Premier, Biratnagar, opened on April 30, 2026, marking the brand’s third hotel in the country and a significant step in its South Asia expansion strategy.
The newly launched Lemon Tree Premier in Biratnagar features 80 well-designed rooms and suites. These spaces cater to both business and leisure travelers, offering comfort and modern amenities. Biratnagar, known as a major industrial and commercial hub of Nepal, provides the perfect location for this upscale hotel.
This expansion aligns with Lemon Tree Hotels’ broader strategy of entering high-potential neighboring markets. The company is focusing on regions that show strong tourism growth and increasing business activity. Nepal has emerged as one such promising destination.
Lemon Tree’s growth is driven by its asset-light model. Instead of heavy investments in property ownership, the company relies on management and franchise agreements. This approach allows faster expansion with lower financial risk. As a result, the brand is scaling rapidly across South Asia and the Middle East.
Previously, the company opened Lemon Tree Premier in Budhanilkantha, Kathmandu, in April 2024. It also signed an agreement for a resort in Lumbini in April 2023. With the Biratnagar launch, Lemon Tree now operates three properties in Nepal, strengthening its regional presence.
The company aims to expand its portfolio to over 20,000 rooms by 2028. Its current global pipeline includes approximately 260 hotels, both operational and under development.
However, Lemon Tree Hotels faces competition in Nepal from established players. Brands such as ITC’s Fortune Hotels, along with global chains like Hilton, Marriott, and IHG, are also expanding in the region.
Despite this competition, the Biratnagar hotel is strategically positioned. It is expected to serve local business communities while attracting international travelers. This move further enhances Lemon Tree’s brand visibility and reinforces its long-term expansion goals.
