Karnal, India, April 2026: Marriott International has launched its Autograph Collection Hotels brand in India with the opening of NoorMahal, Delhi NCR Karnal, a 176-room heritage-style property located along the Grand Trunk Road. The debut marks Marriott Bonvoy’s 19th brand in the country and expands its portfolio to 235 hotels across South Asia.

The entry of the Autograph Collection into India reflects Marriott’s continued focus on diversifying its brand presence in the region, particularly in the premium and design-led hospitality segment. The Karnal property, positioned as a “collectors’ palace,” combines heritage architecture with modern hospitality infrastructure.

Brand entry strengthens Marriott’s India portfolio

The launch of NoorMahal under the Autograph Collection banner represents a strategic expansion for Marriott International in India. The brand, known globally for its portfolio of independent hotels with distinct design narratives, is being introduced at a time when demand for experiential and culturally rooted stays is increasing among Indian travellers.

With this addition, Marriott Bonvoy now operates 19 brands in India, reflecting a broad portfolio that spans luxury, premium, and lifestyle segments. The Autograph Collection is positioned to cater to guests seeking differentiated experiences that emphasise individuality and storytelling rather than standardised formats.

The Karnal property also contributes to Marriott’s growing presence in North India, particularly along key travel corridors connecting major cities and leisure destinations.

176-room heritage property anchored in design and architecture

NoorMahal features 176 guestrooms and suites designed with a blend of traditional Indian aesthetics and contemporary amenities. The property draws architectural inspiration from Mughal, Rajput, Punjabi, and Persian influences, incorporating domes, arches, and intricate jali work.

The hotel houses an extensive collection of art and artefacts, reinforcing its positioning as a heritage-led destination. Interior design elements include layered materials, rich textiles, and custom furnishings aimed at creating a balance between historical character and modern functionality.

Signature accommodations at the property include Raja Niwas and Khwabgah penthouses, which offer expanded living spaces, private terraces, and dedicated services, targeting high-end leisure and event-driven demand.

Dining, wellness, and recreation offerings

The hotel includes four dining venues offering a mix of regional and international cuisine. Frontier Mail focuses on North-Western frontier dishes, while Colonel Saab serves a broader selection of Indian and global cuisine. Additional outlets include Polo Bar, a cocktail-focused venue, and The Cake Factory, specialising in desserts.

Wellness and recreation facilities at the property include a spa offering curated therapies, a fitness centre, an outdoor pool, and relaxation areas. The hotel also features a range of recreational activities such as tennis, pickleball, ziplining, and rock climbing, alongside a dedicated children’s play area.

These facilities position the property to cater to both leisure travellers and destination event segments, including weddings and social gatherings.

Large-format event infrastructure targets wedding and MICE demand

NoorMahal includes multiple indoor and outdoor event spaces designed to accommodate large-scale functions. Outdoor venues such as Rani ka Bagh and Raja ka Bagh lawns are complemented by indoor spaces including Sheesh Mahal and Darbar Hall.

The scale and flexibility of these venues enable the property to target India’s growing wedding and meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) market, which continues to drive demand for large-format hospitality infrastructure outside metro cities.

The hotel’s location along a major highway corridor further enhances accessibility for guests travelling from Delhi, Chandigarh, and other nearby urban centres.

Ownership partnership and operational alignment

The property is owned by Colonel Manbeer Choudhary and Binny & Kr Roop Partap Singh, with Marriott International managing operations under the Autograph Collection brand. The collaboration represents a conversion of an existing heritage property into a globally branded hotel.

Management has indicated that the property aims to deliver personalised guest experiences rooted in regional culture while maintaining international service standards. A signature offering includes a vintage-style portrait experience inspired by royal court traditions, designed to create customised guest memorabilia.

The launch also aligns with broader industry trends where global hotel operators are partnering with independent property owners to bring unique, character-driven assets into branded portfolios. This model allows operators to expand rapidly while preserving the identity of individual properties.

The debut of the Autograph Collection in India highlights the growing importance of differentiated hospitality experiences in a competitive market. As domestic travel demand continues to evolve, the integration of heritage, design, and personalised service is emerging as a key factor in attracting high-value travellers across segments.
