Minor Hotels Expands Luxury Tourism Across Koh Samui and Koh Phangan
Minor Hotels Thailand expands luxury tourism with new Colbert Collection and Avani resort developments in Koh Samui and Koh Phangan.
Minor Hotels Thailand is accelerating its luxury hospitality expansion through major resort developments in Koh Samui and Koh Phangan. The hospitality group has announced the Asian debut of the Colbert Collection brand in Koh Samui while also expanding the Avani Hotels & Resorts footprint in Koh Phangan.
The expansion highlights rising international demand for luxury island tourism, wellness travel, and boutique hospitality experiences across Thailand’s southern tourism destinations.
The future Colbert Collection resort in Koh Samui will replace the current Buri Rasa Village Samui located on Chaweng Beach. The beachfront property officially entered Minor Hotels management in May 2026 and is expected to complete its full rebranding by early 2027 following extensive renovations.
Located close to Samui International Airport, the resort will feature boutique accommodations, curated dining venues, wellness facilities, and premium beachfront experiences designed for upscale international travelers.
Minor Hotels Thailand is also introducing Avani Hotels & Resorts to Koh Phangan through the conversion of Buri Rasa Village Phangan. The future Avani Koh Phangan resort will include 63 luxury accommodations with oceanfront rooms, family-friendly facilities, wellness spaces, and lifestyle-focused amenities.
Tourism experts believe Koh Phangan is rapidly evolving from a backpacker-focused destination into a premium leisure and wellness tourism market. Rising interest from luxury travelers, digital nomads, and long-stay international visitors continues supporting hospitality investment growth across the island.
Thailand’s southern hospitality market has experienced strong recovery momentum due to increasing international arrivals, improved airline connectivity, and growing demand for experiential travel experiences.
Industry analysts note that luxury travelers increasingly prefer smaller design-led resorts offering personalized hospitality, cultural authenticity, and wellness-focused stays instead of traditional large-scale hotel environments.
Minor Hotels Thailand continues strengthening its position across Southeast Asia’s luxury hospitality sector through destination-led developments and premium resort experiences tailored to changing traveler expectations.
The latest projects also support Thailand’s broader tourism strategy focused on attracting high-value international travelers through luxury hospitality, wellness tourism, and experiential travel offerings.
With the introduction of the Colbert Collection and Avani developments, Koh Samui and Koh Phangan are expected to further strengthen their position as leading luxury tourism destinations within Southeast Asia’s island hospitality market.
