GAYA, May 25, 2026: Ramee Group of Hotels has announced an upcoming hotel in Gaya, Bihar, extending the group's East India presence into one of India's most significant pilgrimage cities and adding a property designed to serve the dual demand of spiritual tourists and business travellers in a market with growing but underserved branded hospitality infrastructure.
The announcement forms part of Ramee Group's broader India expansion strategy, which targets high-potential destinations driven by religious tourism, leisure travel and commercial activity. Gaya fits the profile on both counts, it draws domestic and international pilgrims to the Vishnupad Temple and serves as the gateway city for Bodh Gaya, one of the most visited Buddhist pilgrimage sites in the world.
What the property will offer
The Gaya property will include well-appointed guest rooms, an all-day dining restaurant and banquet facilities spanning nearly 4,000 square feet, a venue scale suited to weddings, conferences, corporate events and social gatherings of a size that Gaya's existing accommodation inventory has limited capacity to serve.
The hotel will also feature an open-to-sky jacuzzi experience, an amenity positioned for leisure and pilgrimage travellers looking for a more complete hospitality offering than is currently available in the city. No room count or opening date was disclosed in the announcement.
Gaya as a strategic pilgrimage and travel market
Gaya holds significance for Hindu, Buddhist and Jain pilgrims. The Vishnupad Temple draws Hindu devotees throughout the year for the Pitru Paksha rituals, one of the largest annual pilgrimage events in Bihar, while Bodh Gaya, located 13 kilometres away, attracts international Buddhist visitors from across Asia, making the city's hospitality demand inherently cross-cultural and multi-seasonal.
The city has also seen improvements to transport connectivity in recent years, with Gaya International Airport providing direct and connecting flights from major Indian cities as well as some Southeast Asian destinations serving the Buddhist pilgrimage circuit. Those infrastructure improvements have raised the ceiling on quality accommodation demand in the market.
Saurabh Gahoi on East India as a growth priority
Saurabh Gahoi of Ramee Group said East India is a key focus market for the company's expansion plans and that Gaya has emerged as a strategic destination because of its religious standing, its improving tourism infrastructure and the rising volume of visitors requiring accommodation that meets modern comfort and service standards. "East India remains a key focus market in the company's expansion plans, with Gaya emerging as a strategic hospitality destination due to its religious importance, growing tourism landscape, and improving infrastructure," Gahoi said.
He added that the property is designed to provide a guest-centric experience for pilgrimage and business travellers alike, and that increasing tourism activity and rising demand for quality accommodation continue to strengthen Gaya's position as a growth market for the hospitality sector.
Ramee Group Gaya India expansion trajectory
Ramee Group of Hotels, headquartered in the Gulf and with a growing India presence, has been adding properties across business, leisure and pilgrimage-oriented destinations as it builds a diversified domestic portfolio. The Gaya announcement continues a pattern of targeting cities where branded hospitality is limited relative to inbound visitor volumes, a segment of the India market that has attracted several regional and international hotel operators in recent years as secondary city travel demand grows.
No timeline for the Gaya property's opening was confirmed at the time of the announcement.
