TSG Hotels Conducts Beach Clean-Up Drive in Andaman, Collects 20 Bags of Waste
TSG Hotels & Resorts carried out a beach clean-up drive in Andaman, collecting 20 bags of waste from key tourist sites to promote sustainability.
Sri Vijaya Puram, April 2026: TSG Hotels & Resorts conducted a large-scale cleanliness drive at Marina Park Beach Side and Rajiv Gandhi Water Sports Complex on Tuesday, collecting approximately 20 bags of waste as part of its ongoing sustainability and community engagement initiatives in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The initiative was carried out under the guidance of G. Bhasker, Managing Director of the company, with active participation from staff across multiple operational units. The effort focused on maintaining hygiene at two of the region’s prominent tourist locations, both of which experience consistent visitor footfall.
Multi-Property Participation in Clean-Up Initiative
The clean-up drive saw coordinated involvement from teams representing TSG Emerald View Hotel, TSG Grand Hotel, and TSG Bella Bay Cruise Ship. The activity was led on-ground by Corporate General Manager Chiranjit Das, who oversaw execution and mobilised staff participation.
Employees from these properties worked collectively to remove accumulated waste from the beachside and surrounding public areas. The collection of around 20 bags of garbage highlights both the scale of the effort and the level of waste generated at high-traffic tourist zones.
The initiative reflects a structured approach to environmental responsibility, where hospitality operators extend their role beyond hotel premises to include nearby public spaces that directly impact visitor experience.
Focus on High-Traffic Tourist Locations
Marina Park Beach Side and the Rajiv Gandhi Water Sports Complex are among the key tourism hubs in the Andaman region, attracting both domestic and international visitors. The presence of water-based recreational activities and open public spaces makes these locations central to the local tourism ecosystem.
Maintaining cleanliness in such areas is critical for sustaining tourism appeal, particularly in island destinations where environmental preservation is closely linked to economic activity. The clean-up drive targeted visible waste accumulation zones, ensuring immediate improvement in the condition of these sites.
By focusing on public-facing tourism infrastructure, the initiative supports broader destination management efforts while reinforcing the role of private stakeholders in maintaining shared assets.
Hospitality Sector’s Role in Sustainability
The activity underscores the increasing involvement of hospitality companies in sustainability-driven initiatives beyond operational boundaries. With growing emphasis on responsible tourism, hotel operators are actively participating in environmental conservation efforts to align with both regulatory expectations and evolving guest preferences.
Cleanliness drives, waste management initiatives, and community engagement programmes are becoming integral to corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategies within the sector. These initiatives not only contribute to environmental protection but also enhance brand positioning in markets where sustainability is a key consideration for travellers.
In this context, TSG Hotels & Resorts’ clean-up drive reflects a broader industry trend of integrating environmental stewardship into day-to-day operations and stakeholder engagement.
Call for Collective Responsibility
During the initiative, Chiranjit Das emphasised the importance of shared responsibility in maintaining the ecological integrity of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. He highlighted the need for both residents and visitors to adopt responsible practices to preserve the region’s natural environment.
The appeal for collective participation aligns with ongoing efforts to build awareness around waste management and environmental conservation in tourism-dependent regions. Stakeholders across the ecosystem, including hotels, local communities, and tourists, play a critical role in sustaining such initiatives.
The clean-up drive also serves as a reminder of the operational challenges associated with maintaining cleanliness in high-footfall destinations, particularly in coastal and island environments where waste disposal infrastructure may be limited.
Strengthening Community and Environmental Engagement
The initiative highlights TSG Hotels & Resorts’ continued focus on community welfare and environmental sustainability. By engaging staff members directly in on-ground activities, the company reinforces internal awareness while contributing to local ecosystem management.
Such initiatives are increasingly seen as essential components of long-term hospitality strategies, particularly in environmentally sensitive destinations. Maintaining clean public spaces supports not only tourism growth but also the well-being of local communities.
As tourism activity in the Andaman region continues to grow, collaborative efforts between private operators and local stakeholders are expected to play a key role in ensuring sustainable destination development. Initiatives like this clean-up drive contribute to maintaining the balance between tourism expansion and environmental preservation.
