IHM Ranchi concludes 10-day Palash Didi Cafe training for tribal self help groups,

IHM Ranchi, a state IHM affiliated to National Council of Hotel Management & Catering Technology (NCHMCT) has completed training of the third batch of Palash Didi Café Food Cluster Development Project. Thirty women from Self Help Groups (SHGs) across 12 districts of Jharkhand participated in this third training batch, bringing the total number of trained women to 125 so far.
The training covered topics such as local cuisine, bakery, food service, café setup, cost determination, sales techniques, and entrepreneurship. As part of the program, the participants also visited the successfully operating cafe run by Poonam Didi at the Ranchi Deputy Commissioner’s office, giving them hands-on exposure and real-time learning.
This training initiative is being conducted under an MoU between IHM Ranchi and Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS), with the goal of establishing 100 Didi Cafes across various districts of Jharkhand over the next three years.
At the closing ceremony, certificates were distributed to all participants who completed the training.
The chief guest of the event was Kanchan Singh, CEO of JSLPS, along with Bhupesh Kumar, principal of IHM Ranchi, Nitish Kumar Sinha, state program manager of JSLPS and Meenakshi Prakash.
“This initiative is not only empowering rural women but also providing a strong platform to showcase Jharkhand’s cultural and culinary heritage. JSLPS is committed to spreading this model of rural development across every district,” said Kanchan Singh.
Commenting on the role of IHM Ranchi in rural capacity building, Kumar said, “IHM Ranchi is dedicated to equipping the women of Jharkhand with world-class hospitality and food service skills, enabling them to become successful entrepreneurs in their villages and districts. This partnership is a significant step towards inclusive development in Jharkhand.”
This program is not only empowering women but also giving Jharkhand’s traditional cuisine a renewed identity.
