MERIDIAN, June 19, 2026 — A beloved family restaurant in Meridian announces it will close later this month, and the owners are offering a cookbook of recipes to loyal customers as a way to remember its legacy.
Spice Indian Cuisine, known for its family-run atmosphere and Indian dishes, will serve its final meals through June 27, owner Madhu Jain confirmed. The closure ends a decade of business in the Boise-area community after the Jain family decided to retire and shift focus away from the restaurant industry.
Family Restaurant Meridian Closure and Cookbook Initiative
The Jains opened Spice Indian Cuisine in 2016, continuing a long history of family involvement in the local dining scene. The restaurant became known for curries, tandoori specialties and a welcoming service style where family members worked together.
To mark the end of the restaurant’s run, the owners created “House of Spice: A Family Cookbook,” featuring recipes from their kitchen. The cookbook will be available for purchase at the restaurant during its final days or by reaching out through social media channels, Madhu Jain said.
“Thank you so much for offering a cookbook so we can bring these amazing recipes into our homes,” one regular diner wrote on social media in response to the cookbook announcement.
Reaction from the Meridian community has mixed sadness and appreciation. Many customers expressed gratitude for the family’s service and said they would miss the restaurant’s food and presence.
Owners Share Future Plans
Madhu Jain said she intends to teach cooking classes in the Boise area starting this summer and may also launch a cooking channel online to share techniques and dishes made at Spice Indian Cuisine.
The Jains’ departure from full-time restaurant operations marks the end of a chapter for a business that became a local gathering spot over the past decade. “Ten years at Madhuban and ten years at Spice,” Madhu Jain said when reflecting on the family’s journey in Idaho’s food scene.
