NEW YORK, June 12, 2026 — Tao Group Hospitality and experiential design studio Journey have completed a full redesign of Peak with Priceless, the restaurant on the 101st floor of 30 Hudson Yards at The Edge observation deck in Manhattan. The overhaul also introduces Avenue Sky Lounge, a revival of the Chelsea nightclub Avenue that closed in 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The project signals continued investment in experience-led, high-altitude hospitality in New York. The Edge sits 1,100 feet above street level, making it the highest observation deck in the western hemisphere.

Peak Restaurant at The Edge Draws on Art Deco Landmarks

Both venues take their design cues from the Manhattan skyline visible through wraparound floor-to-ceiling windows. Tall, tiered custom lamps reference art deco structures such as the Empire State Building and Rockefeller Center.

David Taglione, managing director of Journey, said the inspiration "was always New York itself." He explained that every design decision, from the materials to the layered seating, was shaped to frame the view while giving the space its own identity.

Inside Peak, stepped booths face the skyline while smaller tables line the windows, giving every seat an unbroken sightline. Soft blue and warm brown suede covers the curved seat backs, with wave patterns repeated in partitions along the rear of the dining room.

Avenue Sky Lounge Revives a Shuttered Chelsea Nightclub

Avenue Sky Lounge carries the same colour palette and can be divided into smaller, intimate zones using coffee-toned curtains that trace arched ceiling features. Lacquered wood panelling wraps the bar, where geometric stone counters and liquor displays repeat the art deco theme.

Susan Nugraha, senior vice president of design and development at Tao Group Hospitality, led the project alongside Journey. She described the goal as a design that adapts seamlessly to any time of day or occasion.

Sky-High Dining Strengthens New York's Hospitality Offer

The refresh coincides with the return of Marquee Skydeck, a programme of DJ sets and performances on The Edge platform. The combined restaurant, lounge and events offer positions the venue as a multi-format destination rather than a single dining room.

Elevated venues continue to shape the city's fine dining landscape, where dramatic settings increasingly drive demand alongside food quality. Focus Lighting handled lighting design for the project, with Anthony Mrkic Architects serving as architect of record.
