CHENNAI, June 25, 2026 — Parva, a new Chennai restaurant, opens with a menu designed to offer an Indian culinary journey featuring authentic regional dishes from across the country. Located in Akkarai on the East Coast Road corridor, the restaurant showcases flavours and food traditions from more than two dozen regions of India in one venue.

The opening arrives as diners increasingly seek experiences that highlight India’s diverse culinary heritage. Parva’s founders built the menu to reflect lesser-known recipes and stories tied to specific communities, ingredients and traditions. “We stay true to each cuisine by using authentic ingredients sourced from their regions,” said Chef Arupam Baidya, who developed the concept with culinary consultant Rajesh Kumar.

Menu Highlights That Span India’s Food Traditions

The restaurant’s offerings range from coastal and street food classics to dishes rooted in centuries-old culinary practice. Diners can start with regional beverages such as Sol kadi from India’s Konkan coast or Aam pora sharbat from the north before exploring savoury dishes such as Litti chokha from Bihar and Jharkhand and prawn ghee roast inspired by Karnataka’s west coast.

Parva also introduces unique elements such as a variety of pooris — including Bengali luchi and Madhya Pradesh’s Bedani poori — alongside heritage desserts like black rice kheer from Manipur, once reserved for royalty. Throughout the meal, servers share the cultural backstories of each dish, reinforcing the restaurant’s mission to connect food with regional identity.

Why It Matters in Chennai’s Dining Scene

Chennai’s food landscape is evolving, with new concepts that both celebrate local flavours and explore broader Indian traditions gaining attention. Parva’s pan-India approach provides an opportunity for diners to experience familiar and unfamiliar regional dishes under one roof.
