The new restaurant fills a portion of the site once occupied by Winking Lizard Tavern, a long-standing local bar and grill that closed earlier this year. Owners said Bombay House will introduce contemporary Indian dishes and curated drinks to the community when doors open late this year.

Indian Restaurant Opening Brings New Dining Choice

Bombay House Restaurant & Bar expects to welcome guests in October, according to management. The concept will serve classic Indian plates alongside modern interpretations of regional favorites. Menu highlights will include tandoori specialties, slow-braised curries and handcrafted cocktails designed to complement bold spice profiles.

Gregory Singh, founder of Bombay House Restaurant & Bar, said the location near Polaris makes sense for an elevated Indian dining concept in a growing market. “We want to offer a fresh restaurant experience that celebrates Indian flavors in a relaxed but refined environment,” Singh said in a statement.

Why the New Opening Matters to Columbus

Restaurant openings are key to Columbus’ hospitality rebound as the city adds diverse dining options to meet demand. The transformation of a well-known local landmark space signals confidence in the city’s food scene and broader commercial growth.

Local food industry analysts note that upscale Indian cuisine continues to draw interest from diners seeking experiences beyond standard fare. The arrival of Bombay House Restaurant & Bar on Polaris Parkway aligns with that trend while adding revenue and jobs in the area.

Background and Renovation Efforts

Winking Lizard Tavern closed earlier in 2026 after operating for years at the site. Property redevelopment included extensive interior renovation to create a modern dining room and expanded kitchen for Bombay House’s menu. Owners invested in updated finishes, lighting and seating to reflect the new concept.

The restaurant will employ local staff and feature private event space, signaling long-term commitment to the neighborhood. Singh said additional details, including the full menu and reservation launch date, will be announced in coming weeks.
