RICHARDSON, Texas, June 10, 2026 — As Jordan prepares for its first-ever appearance in the FIFA World Cup, the country's cuisine has found a home in North Texas and its owner is ready to feed a wave of fans. Khashoka Middle Eastern Cuisine, a Richardson restaurant that opened in 2025 as the brand's first United States location, imports more than 90% of its ingredients directly from Jordan, giving the Dallas-Fort Worth region what its owner describes as the most authentic Jordanian dining experience available in the area.
Owner Muhammad Albakri, who grew up in Jordan, plans to attend the country's marquee group-stage match in person: Jordan faces Argentina at Dallas Stadium on June 27, a date that carries the weight of a national milestone. "A dream that we never thought was going to become true," Albakri told FOX 4. "Honestly, everyone was excited."
The Only Restaurant in DFW Importing Almost Everything From Jordan
Khashoka whose name translates as "a spoon that feeds everyone" is part of a chain with nearly a dozen locations across the Middle East. The Richardson outpost, which opened in 2025, is the brand's first venture onto American soil and was built with cultural authenticity as its defining principle.
"We're the only restaurant in DFW that imports almost everything from Jordan to maintain the authenticity of our food," Albakri said. The commitment extends to the restaurant's décor, which also originates from Jordan. Albakri recounted that one recent customer was moved to tears upon entering the dining room. "We reminded her of what she used to see in the past," he said.
The menu centres on traditional Jordanian dishes that form the foundation of the country's culinary identity. Mansaf Jordan's national dish, a slow-cooked lamb served with rice and fermented dried yoghurt stands as the restaurant's most culturally significant offering, alongside falafel and a wider selection of Middle Eastern staples. More than half of Khashoka's customers are not members of the Jordanian-American community, a figure that reflects both the restaurant's quality and the broader appetite for Middle Eastern cuisine across North Texas.

Jordan Enters the World Cup as a 63rd-Ranked Underdog
The FIFA World Cup 2026, co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico, marks Jordan's first qualification for the tournament in the nation's football history. Ranked 63rd in the world entering the tournament, Jordan arrives as a clear underdog in Group J, where they face Austria in San Francisco on June 16, Algeria on June 22 and Argentina the defending champions at Dallas Stadium on June 27 at 9 p.m. CT.
Albakri plans to be in the stadium for the Argentina match. His ambitions for Jordan on the night are characteristically direct. "We better beat Messi!" he said with a laugh, before adding that even in the event of defeat, he hopes the Jordanian national team will find their way to Khashoka during their time in North Texas. "After a couple of weeks in the United States, trust me, they're going to miss our traditional dish, and they're going to have to come!"
Free Jordanian Soccer Festival in Arlington June 25–27
The lead-up to Jordan's Dallas Stadium match will include a free community event in Arlington running from June 25 through June 27. The Jordanian soccer festival will feature food trucks, cultural entertainment, a children's zone and additional programming for the local Jordanian-American community and World Cup visitors. The free event is open to all and runs across the three days surrounding Jordan's group-stage finale.
