Jordan's King Abdullah II visited Khashoka Middle East Cuisine in Richardson, Texas, following Jordan's final match at the FIFA World Cup 2026. The royal visit brought attention to the recently opened Jordanian restaurant, where the King dined alongside members of his family, staff and security personnel while interacting with employees and fellow diners.
Royal Visit Highlights Authentic Jordanian Dining
The visit took place a day after Jordan concluded its FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign with a 3-1 defeat to Argentina in Arlington, Texas. Rather than holding a private gathering, King Abdullah chose to dine at Khashoka Middle East Cuisine, joining regular customers inside the restaurant.
Restaurant owner Mohammed Albakri described the visit as a privilege, noting that the King greeted staff members and customers while enjoying the same dishes served to every guest. According to the restaurant, the King requested Galayet Bandora, a traditional Jordanian tomato stew that reflects the country's home-style cuisine.
Restaurant Brings Jordanian Flavours to the US
Khashoka Middle East Cuisine opened its first United States location in Richardson, Texas, in November. The restaurant is part of a Jordanian franchise that currently operates 12 locations across the Middle East.
According to Albakri, the restaurant imports approximately 90% of its ingredients from Jordan, including olive oil, labneh and makdous, while fresh meat and produce are sourced locally. The décor, furniture and interior elements are also imported from Jordan to create an authentic dining experience.
King Interacts with Staff and Customers
The restaurant owner said King Abdullah insisted that staff continue serving all customers during his visit before attending to the royal party. He described the monarch as humble and approachable, adding that the King spent time greeting employees, speaking with diners and posing for photographs.
Albakri said the visit reflected the restaurant's mission of introducing authentic Jordanian cuisine to American diners while making Jordanians abroad feel connected to their homeland.
Restaurant Gains International Attention
The royal visit has generated significant attention for Khashoka Middle East Cuisine, which positions itself as an authentic Jordanian dining destination in the United States. The business aims to showcase traditional Jordanian recipes, hospitality and culture through its menu and guest experience.
The visit also highlighted the growing presence of Middle Eastern restaurant brands in the US market, with Khashoka continuing its expansion beyond Jordan. This report is based on information published by The National and Arab News.
