A Milford fire at a Bridgeport Avenue shopping plaza is under investigation, and Ming Feng Chinese Restaurant remains closed for repairs after sustaining the worst damage, according to a city official.

Bridgeport Avenue Fire Contained to One Unit

The Milford plaza fire broke out in the 500 block of Bridgeport Avenue, said Milford Battalion Fire Chief Brandon Edo. The Connecticut restaurant fire was contained to Ming Feng's unit. Edo confirmed the blaze did not spread to neighboring businesses in the plaza, which remain open and operating normally for customers.

Two-Alarm Response After Smoke Spotted on Roof

Firefighters were called to the scene around 11:20 a.m. Sunday for a reported fire at the commercial building on Bridgeport Avenue. Upon arrival, crews quickly upgraded the response to a two-alarm fire after spotting smoke rising from the roof of the middle unit.

Milford Fire Found in Attic and Walls of Ming Feng

According to Edo, the bulk of the Milford fire was located inside Ming Feng Chinese Restaurant once firefighters gained entry. While crews extinguished the visible flames quickly, they discovered the fire had spread through the attic space and interior walls. Firefighters then conducted overhaul operations to ensure the blaze was completely extinguished.
