Kankan Ghosh appointed Assistant Manager of People & Culture at Fairmont
Fairmont Udaipur Palace appoints Kankan Ghosh as Assistant Manager of People & Culture, bringing experience across JW Marriott, Radisson Blu and Hyatt.
UDAIPUR — Fairmont Udaipur Palace has appointed Kankan Ghosh as Assistant Manager of People & Culture. Ghosh comes with hands-on HR experience across some well-known names in global hospitality, including Marriott International, Radisson Hotel Group and Hyatt Hotels Corporation, before joining the Accor fold at Fairmont.
Kankan Ghosh Joins Fairmont Udaipur Palace as Assistant Manager of People & Culture
Ghosh moves to Fairmont Udaipur Palace from JW Marriott Kolkata, where he spent close to four years in the hotel's human resources team. He started there as a Human Resources Associate and worked his way up to Human Resources Executive before making this move. That kind of internal progression at a JW Marriott property is not handed out easily, and it says something about how he performed during his time there.
At Fairmont Udaipur Palace, his remit covers talent management, HR operations and day-to-day people strategy at a 327-key luxury property set across 18 acres at the foothills of the Aravalli Hills in Udaipur.
Kankan Ghosh's Career Profile
Ghosh got his start in hospitality through a short training stint at Hyatt Regency Kolkata, followed by an 11-month internship at Radisson Blu Ahmedabad. Those two stints gave him his first real look at how large hotel groups run their HR functions at the property level, and he carried that foundation into JW Marriott Kolkata, where he put in nearly four years of consistent work.
The through-line across those three stints is that each one came with a different brand culture and a different operating environment. Hyatt, Radisson and Marriott do not run their people operations the same way, and working across all three early in a career builds a practical instinct for how HR fits into a hotel's wider operation.
He studied at the Guru Nanak Institute of Hotel Management, graduating with a degree in Business Administration and Management. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce from St. Xavier's on the side.
Kankan Ghosh: Role and responsibilities
He describes himself as adaptable, comfortable picking up new skills across different business areas and able to keep his head when things get busy. That kind of temperament matters in an HR role at a luxury property, where the pace of a pre-opening or high-season period can test even experienced professionals.
When he is not at work, he follows cricket and music and keeps up with a demanding academic schedule alongside his full-time role, which in itself reflects the kind of discipline that tends to make someone reliable in a professional setting.
