Responsible Fintech Institute Appoints Patrick H. M. Loh and Tek Yew Chia as Executive Fellows
Responsible Fintech Institute appoints Patrick H. M. Loh and Tek Yew Chia as Executive Fellows to strengthen global policy leadership in digital finance.
The Responsible Fintech Institute (RFI) has appointed Distinguished Professor Patrick H. M. Loh and Professor Tek Yew Chia as Executive Fellows, reinforcing its global policy leadership as financial systems evolve rapidly with increasing integration between traditional finance, digital assets, and emerging technologies.
Leadership Appointments at a Critical Industry Juncture
The appointments come at a time when the global financial ecosystem is undergoing structural transformation, driven by advancements in artificial intelligence, digital assets, and cross-border financial systems. As institutions and regulators face growing complexity, RFI is strengthening its leadership to support policy development and institutional collaboration.
According to available industry estimates, while stablecoin networks process trillions in transaction volumes annually, only a portion reflects real-world payment activity, highlighting the need for stronger governance frameworks. In this context, the addition of two senior leaders is aimed at bridging the gap between technological innovation and practical adoption.
Role and Responsibilities as Executive Fellows
In their new roles, Professor Loh and Professor Chia will contribute to shaping global financial policy frameworks, strengthening institutional partnerships, and leading thought leadership initiatives. Their responsibilities include engaging with regulators, industry stakeholders, and standard-setting bodies to support the development of interoperable and responsible financial ecosystems.
They will also be involved in mentoring senior leaders and contributing to strategic initiatives that promote alignment across global financial systems. The positions are designed to operate with institutional neutrality while advancing frameworks that ensure resilience and sustainability in digital finance.

His previous experience includes leadership roles such as Vice Chairman of Oliver Wyman Singapore, where he led the Asia-Pacific insurance practice, along with earlier positions at KPMG, PwC Consulting, and Hewlett-Packard.
