As the hospitality industry continues to recognise professionals who drive operational excellence through structured people practices, nominations for the HCP Human Resources Award 2026 – The People’s Choice for Hospitality Excellence have brought several emerging HR leaders into focus. Among this year’s nominees is Deepak Kumar, Assistant Human Resources Manager at Hilton and Hilton Garden Inn Bengaluru Embassy Manyata Business Park.

With over two years of hands-on experience in hospitality human resources, Deepak Kumar has developed a strong foundation in HR operations, employee engagement, compliance management, and data-driven HR decision-making. His career progression within Hilton reflects consistency, capability, and a growing leadership role across a large cluster portfolio.

Currently serving as Assistant Human Resources Manager, Deepak supports HR operations across a cluster of three hotels comprising 866 keys and over 850 team members. His responsibilities span recruitment, onboarding, payroll management, performance management, employee relations, vendor governance, statutory compliance, and audit coordination. He is also actively involved in pre-opening HR tasks for upcoming Hilton and Hilton Garden Inn properties, including budgeting, manpower planning, and compliance readiness.

Deepak has played a pivotal role in strengthening employee engagement and recognition frameworks, including the development of structured reward and recognition programmes acknowledged at town halls. His contribution to audit excellence is reflected in high internal HR and QA audit scores, achieved through meticulous documentation, process alignment, and coordination with audit firms such as KPMG and EY.

A strong proponent of HR automation and analytics, Deepak has leveraged Microsoft Power Automate to digitise probation checks, pulse surveys, and employee communication workflows. His expertise in HR dashboards, MIS reporting, and advanced Excel analysis enables leadership teams to access real-time people insights for strategic decision-making.

Deepak began his Hilton journey as an HR Coordinator and steadily progressed through HR Executive and Assistant Manager roles, gaining comprehensive exposure to onboarding, offboarding, grievance handling, HR helpdesk operations, background verification, and compliance audits. His academic foundation includes a Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Management from IHM Pusa, New Delhi, complemented by certifications in data analytics and strategic human resources.

In 2025, Deepak was recognised with the Rising Star Award by Making India Employable and India Education Forum for his contribution to talent development and Apprenticeship India initiatives, underscoring his commitment to future workforce readiness.
