Fielia has opened at Mumbai’s historic Mahalaxmi Race Course, introducing a new hospitality format described as India’s first ‘Cocktail Cinema’. The concept blends immersive design, narrative-led mixology, and performance-inspired social spaces to redefine premium nightlife experiences.
The venue is housed within a restored mill structure at the race course and has been designed by interior designer Gauri Khan. The space draws from cinematic architecture, featuring dramatic lighting, layered seating, and a central bar that functions as a visual and social focal point.
Rather than operating as a conventional lounge, Fielia positions itself as an experience-driven destination where cocktails, conversation, and ambience unfold like scenes in a film. The layout encourages movement and interaction, with balconies, elevated walkways, and intimate seating zones creating multiple perspectives within the venue.
The project has been developed by founders Afsana Verma, Amit Verma, and Dhaval Udeshi, who envisioned a concept that merges storytelling with hospitality. Their aim was to create a venue rooted in Mumbai’s cultural legacy while offering a globally relevant nightlife format.
The opening cocktail programme, titled “Sin & Scandal”, is led by beverage curator Fay Barretto. The menu focuses on theatrical presentation, layered flavours, and experiential elements that extend beyond traditional mixology, reinforcing the venue’s cinema-inspired identity.
Food offerings have been curated by chef Hitesh Shanbhag, with an aperitivo-style menu designed for sharing. The dishes draw inspiration from the seven sins, balancing indulgence with refined presentation to complement the cocktail-led experience.
Fielia’s launch reflects a broader shift in India’s urban hospitality landscape, where design-led storytelling and experiential formats are increasingly shaping how premium bars engage with discerning guests. The venue adds a distinctive new chapter to Mumbai’s evolving nightlife scene while preserving the architectural soul of the Mahalaxmi Race Course.
