Crowne Plaza Queenstown Appoints Eloise Green as General Manager
Crowne Plaza Queenstown has announced the appointment of Eloise Green as its new General Manager, marking a significant milestone in her hospitality career as she steps into her first GM role.
The Sydney‑raised hotelier succeeds Stewart Manson, who has moved on to lead InterContinental Hayman Island in Australia.
A Rising Leader in Hospitality
At just 32 years old, Green brings nearly 14 years of hospitality experience to the role. She began her career as an executive lounge attendant at InterContinental Sydney and has since built an extensive career within the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG).
Throughout her journey, Green has worked across six IHG hotels, gaining operational experience in a range of leadership positions.
Most recently, she served as operations manager at the 432‑room Crowne Plaza Melbourne, where she played a key role in overseeing day‑to‑day hotel operations and guest experience.
Part of IHG’s Leadership Development Programme
Green’s appointment follows her participation in IHG’s “Journey to GM” leadership development programme, which supports emerging hospitality leaders in preparing for senior executive roles.
Through the programme, she was encouraged to apply for the Queenstown role and successfully secured the position.
Announcing the appointment internally, IHG Australasia and Pacific director of operations Emma Hynes praised Green’s leadership capabilities, highlighting her strong operational expertise and commitment to delivering exceptional guest and team experiences.
Relocating to Queenstown
Green recently relocated from Australia to Queenstown with her partner, who has a background in restaurant and bar management.
Having never previously visited the destination, she described arriving in Queenstown on a clear day as an unforgettable experience.
“Ninety‑nine percent of people told me Queenstown is the most stunning place on earth when they found out I was moving here,” she said.
Leading the 139‑Room Alpine Hotel
As General Manager, Green will oversee operations at the 139‑room Crowne Plaza Queenstown, one of the destination’s prominent lakefront hotels.
She will focus on strengthening the property’s guest experience, team culture, and operational performance while continuing to position the hotel as a leading accommodation choice in New Zealand’s popular alpine tourism hub.
Green also noted that she already has a connection within the hotel’s team — operations manager Jess Checkley studied with her at hotel school in Sydney and is also part of IHG’s “Journey to GM” programme.
With the appointment, Crowne Plaza Queenstown signals continued investment in developing emerging hospitality leaders while strengthening its management team in one of New Zealand’s most iconic tourism destinations.
