IHG Hotels & Resorts Signs Garner Hotel in Jagdalpur
IHG Hotels & Resorts signs a 117-key Garner hotel in Jagdalpur, marking its entry into Chhattisgarh’s growing Bastar region.
Jagdalpur, April 2026: IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed a new Garner-branded hotel in Jagdalpur, marking its entry into Chhattisgarh and pushing deeper into India’s emerging markets.
The property will have 117 rooms and is set to open in 2029. Development sits with Freedom Hospitality, while operations go to United Hospitality Management, an established IHG partner in India.
Entry into Chhattisgarh’s growing Bastar region
This is IHG stepping into Bastar with intent.
Jagdalpur is no longer off the radar. Connectivity is improving. Local industries are spreading out. And movement—business and regional, is picking up.
That’s where hotel demand starts forming.
And branded supply is still limited.
Garner brand targets value-conscious travellers
Garner sits in the midscale space. No frills, but no compromise on basics.
The pitch is simple, clean rooms, reliable service, and pricing that works.
It’s aimed at travellers who want consistency without paying premium rates.
And in markets like Jagdalpur, that segment is growing fast.
Asset-light partnership model drives expansion
IHG isn’t putting its own capital on the ground here.
It’s working through partners.
Freedom Hospitality handles development. United Hospitality Management runs the hotel.
This setup lets IHG move quicker.
Less risk. Faster rollout. Wider reach.
Focus on emerging and underserved markets
This deal fits a clear pattern.
Big brands are moving into tier II cities where branded hotels are still scarce.
Demand is rising, but supply hasn’t caught up yet.
That gap is where the opportunity sits.
Long-term growth potential in central India
Bastar’s growth is steady, not flashy.
Mining, small businesses, and tourism are all adding movement to the region.
That means more travellers. And more need for organised stays.
The Garner Jagdalpur will add to that supply, slowly building a more structured hotel market in the region.
And for IHG, it’s another step in a larger play, getting into markets early, before they get crowded.
