KOLKATA, May 25, 2026: Aauris Hotel has marked 10 years of operations near Kolkata's Park Street with a complete renovation of all 56 guestrooms and suites, the launch of a second outpost for its Scarlet patisserie brand and a stated intent to grow beyond a single hotel into a broader lifestyle destination group.

The boutique property, which opened in 2015 and has anchored itself as a design-focused alternative to the city's larger luxury chains, used the anniversary milestone to announce several operational and strategic developments, each designed to sharpen the brand's presence in Kolkata while testing whether its individual concepts can sustain standalone commercial identities.

Aauris Hotel Kolkata completes full guestroom renovation

The renovation, completed ahead of the anniversary announcement, refreshed all 56 guestrooms and suites across the property. The updated interiors follow what the hotel describes as a contemporary and intuitive design language — one that raises functional comfort and visual coherence without abandoning the boutique character that has defined the hotel's identity since its opening.

The refurbishment runs alongside the hotel's recently reimagined public spaces and forms part of a broader capital investment cycle that management says will culminate in a full facelift of the property's lobby. That project, described as a flagship initiative for the hotel's second decade, aims to create a more immersive arrival experience in keeping with the hotel's design-first positioning.

CoBo, Zyqa and Scarlet define Aauris' food and beverage evolution

One of Aauris' most visible transformations over the past decade has been the evolution of its food and beverage portfolio, which now comprises three distinct concepts operating under a single roof.

The hotel's rooftop venue, once a conventional open-air space, has become CoBo, a Pan-Asian brewery that the hotel positions at the intersection of craft beer culture and experiential dining. The venue reflects the shift in urban hospitality toward multi-sensory food and beverage destinations that guests visit independently of their accommodation.

Zyqa, the hotel's all-day dining concept, offers a modern take on Indian cuisine and serves as the property's primary restaurant. Alongside it, Scarlet, an artisanal patisserie, has established a reputation in Kolkata's dining circuit for bespoke dessert creations and a considered approach to pastry craft.

LAVIE, the hotel's exclusive Presidential Suite, completes the upper tier of the Aauris offering, targeting guests who seek a higher degree of privacy and individualised service within the boutique environment.

Scarlet 2.0 signals Aauris' move beyond the hotel

The most consequential development in the anniversary announcement is the opening of Scarlet 2.0 at Southern Avenue, a standalone community-facing patisserie that takes the Scarlet brand out of the hotel and into a residential neighbourhood setting.

The move signals a deliberate shift in Aauris' strategic thinking. Rather than growing its hotel room count or pursuing a second property, the brand is testing whether its food and lifestyle concepts can sustain independent commercial formats. Scarlet 2.0 is described by the hotel as combining quality, design and everyday luxury in a format accessible to walk-in neighbourhood clientele rather than exclusively to hotel guests.

If the Southern Avenue model performs, Aauris could replicate it across other Kolkata neighbourhoods or expand into other cities, effectively building a lifestyle brand with hospitality at its centre rather than a hotel group with restaurants attached.

Founder sets out vision for the next decade

Tejinder Singh Saini, founder of Aauris Hotel, said the past 10 years have been defined by the hotel's ability to adapt without losing its core identity.

"Aauris' success is rooted in its ability to evolve with time while remaining committed to meaningful experiences," Saini said. "As we enter our second decade, our vision remains clear, to create elevated spaces where design, food, culture and community come together effortlessly."

Saini's framing positions Aauris less as a hotel business pursuing room-night growth and more as a place-making enterprise — one where hospitality, gastronomy and neighbourhood culture reinforce each other. That positioning aligns with a broader shift in Indian boutique hospitality, where independent properties increasingly compete on experience depth rather than price or scale.

Kolkata's boutique hotel market finds its footing

Aauris operates in a Kolkata market that has historically been dominated by large legacy properties and international chain hotels. The city's Park Street corridor, where Aauris is located, has seen renewed interest from independent operators and restaurant groups over the past several years, driven by growing demand from younger urban travellers and domestic business guests who prefer character-driven properties to standardised chain experiences.

The hotel's 10-year track record and its investment in renovation at this stage of its lifecycle suggest confidence in continued demand from that segment, even as larger groups expand their own footprint in the city.

Future plans the hotel has disclosed include technology-enabled guest experience improvements, new dining concepts, curated cultural programming and continued reimagination of shared hotel spaces, all aimed at sustaining the property's relevance as Kolkata grows as both a leisure and commercial travel destination.
