Mysuru, May 2026: Backroom chatter in hotel investment circles points to one thing, regional players are doubling down on Karnataka, and Brigade Hotel Ventures Limited (BHVL) is putting real money behind that bet. The company plans to invest about ₹1,000 crore in the state over the next five years, timed with the 10-year mark of its flagship, Grand Mercure Mysuru.

The capital will go into new projects and upgrades of existing assets. And the pitch is clear: ride the surge in premium travel demand and push deeper into emerging leisure and business pockets across Karnataka.

Grand Mercure Mysuru marks decade of operations

The announcement lands alongside a milestone, 10 years of Grand Mercure Mysuru, opened in 2016. The 146-key hotel has carved a spot for itself by blending French-style hospitality with Mysuru’s royal and cultural pull.

It’s become part of the city’s tourism rhythm, especially during Dasara. And the Green Key certification signals the company’s push on sustainability.

BHVL is blunt about it, the property proved that upscale hotels can work in Tier-II cities. That success is now driving a wider expansion push.

Vision 2031 strategy targets room inventory expansion

Alongside the Karnataka plan, BHVL has rolled out its “Vision 2031” strategy. The target: add around 1,700 room keys over five years, backed by a broader ₹3,600 crore pipeline.

The company already runs hotels across Bengaluru, Mysuru, Chennai, Kochi, and GIFT City. Now it wants more scale, and faster.

And the timing isn’t random. Operators across India are chasing Tier-II cities and heritage destinations as domestic travel keeps climbing.

Mysuru emerging as hospitality and tourism hub

Managing Director Nirupa Shankar pointed to Mysuru’s shift, from a weekend getaway to a serious business and heritage hub.

The city, she said, has validated BHVL’s model outside Bengaluru. That’s a big deal for any operator trying to scale beyond metros.

With better infrastructure and rising international interest, Mysuru is no longer a side market. It’s part of the core growth story.

Sustainability and experiential tourism drive investments

Future projects will lean heavily on sustainability and experience-led stays. That means eco-conscious builds, local integration, and setups that focus on how guests actually feel on property.

Karnataka is already seeing a spike in hospitality investments, across leisure spots, heritage circuits, and business corridors. Demand is holding, and pricing power is improving in premium segments.

BHVL’s move isn’t just expansion. It’s a signal. Confidence in Karnataka’s tourism story is rising—and developers are moving early to lock in that growth.
