LaLiT Suri Hospitality Group Launches Skilling Programme for PwDs
LaLiT Suri Hospitality Group launches a skilling and employment programme for PwDs and marginalized communities, offering hands-on training across hotel operations to improve employability and workforce inclusion.
New Delhi, May 1, 2026: The LaLiT Suri Hospitality Group has introduced a structured skilling and employment programme aimed at Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) and individuals from economically marginalised communities, focusing on industry-relevant training and workforce inclusion across its hotel operations.
The initiative, implemented in collaboration with Sofiya NGO and the Keshav Suri Foundation, is designed to bridge the gap between training and employability by providing practical exposure within live hotel environments. The programme aligns with the group’s broader effort to expand access to skilled employment while addressing workforce diversity in the hospitality sector.
Focus on workforce inclusion and employability
The programme targets underrepresented communities, particularly PwDs, with the objective of equipping them with operational and service-oriented skills required in hospitality. By integrating participants into real-world work settings, the initiative aims to improve employability outcomes and contribute to building a more inclusive workforce.
Participants are selected based on their interests and capabilities and are trained to adapt to structured hospitality environments. The programme reflects a growing industry focus on tapping into diverse talent pools while addressing skill shortages.
Hands-on training across hotel operations
As part of the training framework, interns are placed in multiple departments within operational hotels. These include Front Office, Housekeeping, Linen and Tailoring, Bakery, Food and Beverage Production, and In-Room Dining. The exposure enables participants to gain functional experience across core hospitality roles.
The training model emphasises practical learning, allowing participants to understand operational workflows, customer service standards, and workplace dynamics. This approach is intended to create job-ready candidates capable of transitioning into formal employment roles within the sector.
Holistic development and skill enhancement
In addition to technical training, the programme incorporates elements of personal development, including behavioural readiness and communication skills. According to the organisers, participants have demonstrated improvements in confidence, independence, and self-reliance during the course of the programme.
The initiative highlights the role of structured training and support systems in enhancing both individual capability and long-term employability, particularly for individuals who face barriers to entering the workforce.
Institutional collaboration drives implementation
The programme is supported by a coordinated effort between The LaLiT team, Sofiya NGO, and the Keshav Suri Foundation. Foundational training sessions and behavioural readiness programmes are conducted at Sofiya NGO’s centre in Mustafabad, while the hospitality group provides on-ground exposure and mentorship.
The Keshav Suri Foundation contributes through advocacy and mobility support, ensuring that participants can access training and workplace environments effectively. The collaboration has enabled the development of an end-to-end skilling model that combines training, exposure, and employment pathways.
Employment pathways and operational insights
The programme has created opportunities for long-term employment, with several participants being considered for permanent roles based on performance and suitability. At the same time, it has identified operational challenges that need to be addressed to scale such initiatives.
Key areas highlighted include the need for improved accessibility infrastructure, inclusive workplace facilities, and better transportation support. These factors are considered essential for expanding similar programmes across the hospitality industry.
Commenting on the initiative, Keshav Suri stated that the programme reflects a commitment to ensuring inclusion translates into tangible outcomes, enabling individuals to contribute meaningfully to the workforce when provided with appropriate training and support.
The initiative underscores a broader shift within the hospitality sector towards inclusive hiring practices and skill development models that integrate underrepresented communities into formal employment structures.
