Coorg, April 2026: Radisson Hotel Group has entered the Coorg hospitality market with the signing of two resorts under its Radisson Individuals Premier brand, adding a combined 180 keys through Purple Mist Resort & Spa Coorg and the conversion of Purple Palms Resort & Spa Coorg.

The dual signing marks the group’s first presence in Coorg, a key leisure destination in southern India, and reflects a strategy focused on scaling operations in nature-led travel markets through multi-property developments.

180 Keys Across Two Resorts in Coorg Market Entry

The development includes Purple Mist Resort & Spa Coorg, a newly positioned 102-room property, and Purple Palms Resort & Spa Coorg, a 78-room existing resort that will be converted and repositioned under the Radisson Individuals Premier brand.

At Purple Mist Resort & Spa Coorg, the room inventory comprises 98 standard rooms and four suites. Purple Palms Resort & Spa Coorg will include 74 standard rooms and four suites following its conversion. Together, the two properties form a combined 180-key portfolio, allowing Radisson Hotel Group to establish scale at entry in the destination.

The dual-resort approach enables the group to address multiple demand segments simultaneously, including individual leisure travellers, group bookings, and event-driven demand.

Facilities Designed for Leisure and Event Segments

Purple Mist Resort & Spa Coorg is planned with a range of facilities including an all-day dining restaurant, a lobby lounge and deli, two banquet halls with pre-function areas, a fitness centre, and a spa. The property is positioned to cater to both stay-based leisure demand and event-driven business.

Purple Palms Resort & Spa Coorg, which will undergo brand conversion, will feature two restaurants, a banquet hall, a boardroom, and wellness facilities such as a gym and spa. The repositioning is aimed at aligning the property with Radisson Individuals Premier standards while enhancing its market positioning.

Combined, the two resorts are expected to support destination weddings, corporate retreats, and social gatherings, in addition to regular leisure stays, reflecting the increasing overlap between hospitality and event-driven travel demand in resort destinations.

Strategic Expansion into Leisure-Driven Destinations

The signing reflects Radisson Hotel Group’s broader expansion strategy in India, focusing on high-growth leisure destinations alongside established business hubs. Coorg, known for its natural landscapes and destination appeal, has seen rising demand for experiential travel and resort-based stays.

According to the company, the dual-resort model provides flexibility in addressing varied guest requirements, from smaller individual bookings to large-format events, while strengthening brand visibility in a competitive leisure market.

The Radisson Individuals Premier brand, under which both properties will operate, allows for conversion and repositioning of existing assets while maintaining a degree of local character. This approach enables faster market entry and operational scalability compared to greenfield developments alone.

Partnership Supports Development and Conversion Strategy

The project is being developed in partnership with SLN Hotels & Resorts, with the dual signing combining a new development and an existing asset conversion. This structure aligns with Radisson Hotel Group’s asset-light expansion strategy in India, leveraging partnerships for growth.

Management indicated that the inclusion of a ready-to-open resort within the portfolio supports faster operational rollout, while the second property strengthens the overall offering through complementary positioning.

The development also reflects a growing trend in the Indian hospitality sector, where operators are combining new builds with conversions to accelerate expansion timelines and optimise capital deployment.

Coorg Positioned as Emerging Hospitality Hub

The entry into Coorg highlights the destination’s evolving role within India’s leisure travel landscape. Increasing demand for nature-led and experience-driven travel has driven investment in resort infrastructure across the region.

The addition of two branded resorts under a global hospitality group is expected to contribute to the destination’s capacity for hosting larger events and organised group travel, alongside traditional leisure tourism.

With a combined inventory of 180 keys and integrated facilities across both properties, Radisson Hotel Group’s Coorg entry establishes a multi-property footprint designed to capture a broad spectrum of demand within a single market.

The dual signing underscores a shift toward cluster-based development strategies in leisure destinations, where scale, flexibility, and diversified offerings are becoming central to competitive positioning in the hospitality sector.
