Back-end sustainability audits are starting to show real numbers, not just promises, and Radisson Hotel Group’s latest filing is one of the clearer signals yet. May 2026: Radisson Hotel Group has reported a 23% reduction in emissions intensity per square meter and 78 hotels operating on 100% renewable electricity in 2025, according to its latest Responsible Business Report, marking measurable progress toward its Net Zero 2050 commitment.
The report lays out how sustainability is now built into day-to-day operations, energy use, resource control, and efficiency. And it lands at a time when hotel companies are under pressure from regulators, climate risks, and guests who are paying closer attention.
23% emissions intensity reduction and renewable energy expansion
Radisson Hotel Group reported a 23% drop in emissions intensity per square meter against its 2019 baseline. At the same time, total Scope 1 and 2 emissions fell by 6%, even as the company kept expanding its footprint.
78 hotels are now running on 100% renewable electricity. That’s a clear push toward cleaner energy, not just talk. And it’s being done without cutting back on service delivery.
The company also rolled out its first Verified Net Zero hotels in 2025, one in Manchester City Centre and another in Oslo City Centre. These are being used as live test sites to prove lower-emission hotel operations can actually work.
Five-year plan drives operational sustainability measures
The progress isn’t random. It’s tied to a defined five-year plan focused on energy efficiency, electrification, renewable adoption, and tighter resource use.
The idea is simple, make sustainability part of daily hotel operations, not a side project. And for owners, it’s about cost control and staying compliant as rules tighten.
The Verified Net Zero model is expected to scale. Both new builds and existing hotels are in the pipeline.
Workforce engagement and internal development metrics
The report also tracks internal metrics under its “Think People” pillar. The group now has over 75,000 employees across 100+ countries, with engagement levels at 84%, above industry norms.
Women hold 31% of leadership roles. Meanwhile, 206 hotels have Safehotels certification, pointing to a tighter focus on safety standards.
Training remains heavy. Radisson Academy clocked more than 8.5 million learning hours. And 40% of roles were filled internally.
The Radisson People Foundation, launched in 2024, supported over 250 employees globally.
Community initiatives and supplier engagement
Under its “Think Community” program, the group continued its partnership with Just a Drop, helping provide clean water and sanitation access to more than 34,000 people.
It also logged €890,000 in donations, cash and in-kind, and about 79,000 volunteer hours from staff.
On the supply side, 76% of global suppliers have now been assessed. The group secured an EcoVadis Silver Medal, signaling progress but also room to improve.
Reporting framework aligns with EU sustainability standards
The 2025 report is the group’s first aligned with the EU’s Voluntary Sustainability Reporting Standard for SMEs (VSME). It follows a double materiality model, tracking impact, risk, and opportunity across ESG areas.
This is about transparency. And accountability.
What’s clear is this: sustainability reporting in hospitality is tightening. Radisson’s latest numbers show movement, real reductions, real systems in place.
And the Net Zero 2050 target? Still distant. But now, at least, it’s backed by measurable steps.
