MUMBAI, May 23, 2026: Marriott International and Concept Hospitality Pvt. Ltd. have crossed 75 hotel signings and 50 openings for Series by Marriott in India in under six months since the brand's November 2025 debut. The expansion has added more than 3,556 rooms across 43 cities, spanning tier 1 to tier 3 markets, a pace of growth that puts the India rollout firmly among the fastest branded hotel expansions the country has seen from a global hospitality group in recent memory.

The numbers matter because they are not projections or pipeline announcements. They are open, operating hotels, 50 of them, with guests checking in, Marriott Bonvoy points being earned, and owner-partners seeing what a Series by Marriott address actually does for their occupancy and pricing. Six months in, the proof of concept phase is over. What Marriott and Concept Hospitality have now is a functioning national network.

Marriott and Concept Hospitality Cross 50 Openings for Series by Marriott Across India

Kiran Andicot, Senior Vice President for South Asia at Marriott International, was direct about what reaching this milestone inside six months actually means for the brand's ambition in India.

"When we launched Series by Marriott in India last November, we spoke of a brand designed to scale with both speed and purpose. Reaching 75 signings, with 50 open and operating hotels across the country, in under six months is a validation of that vision. India is not simply a launchpad for this brand, it is proof of concept. As we expand our footprint, we remain focused on delivering consistent, quality experiences for guests, while offering owners an efficient, conversion-friendly model, backed by the strength of Marriott Bonvoy and our distribution ecosystem."

— Kiran Andicot, Senior Vice President, South Asia, Marriott International

The phrase "proof of concept" carries real weight here. Series by Marriott is a global brand, not an India-only product, but India is where it launched first and where the model is being validated fastest. The speed of signings and openings across such a range of city types and market tiers tells Marriott something important about how the brand translates in markets where The Fern already has an established presence, reputation and owner-partner network.

Suhail Kannampilly on What the Milestone Actually Means for the Partnership

Suhail Kannampilly, Managing Director of Concept Hospitality and The Fern Hotels & Resorts, made a point of anchoring the milestone in what is happening on the ground rather than in the signing pipeline.

"Reaching 75 signed hotels is a milestone, but the key focus is the hotels already open, welcoming guests, building loyalty and delivering on the initial promise of the partnership. The alignment between The Fern's heritage of thoughtful, regionally rooted hospitality and Marriott International's global standards and distribution has resonated powerfully with owners and travelers alike. Between our commitment to sustainable hospitality, the industry's growing appetite for quality development and Marriott's unmatched systems and loyalty reach, we are tracking well ahead of our plans, and we are only just beginning."

— Suhail Kannampilly, Managing Director, Concept Hospitality Pvt. Ltd. & The Fern Hotels & Resorts

"Tracking well ahead of plans" is the line that owners, investors and future signing partners will be paying attention to. It is not throwaway language from a mid-year review, it is a statement from the person running the operation six months into a partnership that the market was watching closely to see whether the collaboration would deliver at the pace both sides had promised.

3,556 Rooms Across 43 Cities, What the Geographic Spread Actually Looks Like

The 43-city footprint is perhaps the most strategically significant number in this announcement. A brand that opens 50 hotels in the same three or four metro cities is not really proving a scalable model, it is proving that a global brand flag works in places where global brands already work. Opening across 43 cities spanning tier 1, tier 2 and tier 3 markets is a different and harder demonstration.

The opened properties include The Fern Mumbai Goregaon Series by Marriott, The Fern Jaipur Series by Marriott, The Fern Habitat Goa Candolim Series by Marriott, Rakabi The Fern Igatpuri Series by Marriott and The Fern Residency Bengaluru Seshadripuram Series by Marriott, a mix of metro suburbs, leisure destinations, hill stations and state capitals that reflects a brand built to serve multiple demand profiles rather than a single traveller type.

The brand targets domestic travellers seeking consistent standards alongside local experiences. Select properties include fitness centres and meeting and event spaces. The design intent is that each hotel maintains quality while reflecting its specific location, Rajasthan properties feel different from coastal Goa properties, which feel different from Bengaluru business hotels, while all meeting the same Marriott brand standards and connecting to the same Bonvoy loyalty infrastructure.

The Partnership Structure That Makes the Speed Possible

The velocity of this rollout is only understandable in the context of what Concept Hospitality brought to the partnership before a single hotel was signed. The Fern brand, launched in 2009 under Executive Chairman Param Kannampilly and Managing Director Suhail Kannampilly, already operated a significant portfolio of hotels across India with an established reputation for energy efficiency, waste management and regionally sensitive hospitality. The owner-partner relationships, the operational infrastructure, the brand recognition in tier 2 and tier 3 markets, all of it existed before Marriott arrived.

What Marriott International added was global distribution, Marriott Bonvoy's 228-million-member loyalty programme, international marketing reach and the brand credibility that changes what a property can charge in markets where international names still command a meaningful rate premium over domestic brands. The combination is the product, neither side could have moved this quickly alone.

A 200-Hotel India Pipeline With Series by Marriott Leading the Charge

Marriott's broader India ambitions extend well beyond Series by Marriott. The company maintains a pipeline of 200 hotels across India and has been focusing on spiritual tourism and pilgrimage circuit destinations as a growth segment alongside the tier 2 commercial city expansion. The West Asia crisis has created short-term headwinds for global travel flows, but domestic India travel has remained resilient, and it is domestic travellers that Series by Marriott is primarily designed and priced to serve.

With 50 hotels open, 25 more signed and in the pipeline, and a geographic spread that now covers 43 cities across the country, the Series by Marriott-Fern partnership has moved from a launch story to an operational reality in the time it takes most hotel brands to open a handful of properties in a single market. What happens in the next six months, whether the open hotels deliver at the rate performance the model promises and whether the signing pace continues, will determine whether "proof of concept" becomes the opening chapter of something much larger.
