THSC partners with Diageo India to train 300 youth for hospitality roles under skilling initiative
Tourism and Hospitality Skill Council partners with Diageo India to train 300 youth for hospitality roles under a skilling initiative launched in April 2026.
The Tourism and Hospitality Skill Council (THSC) has partnered with Diageo India to train 300 youth for roles in the hospitality sector, the organisations said in April 2026, as part of a structured skilling initiative aimed at improving employability and addressing workforce demand across hotels, food service and allied segments in India.
Partnership announced for youth training
THSC confirmed that the collaboration with Diageo India will focus on delivering industry-relevant training to 300 candidates across selected locations. The programme is designed to equip participants with practical and theoretical knowledge required for entry-level roles in hospitality operations.
Officials said the initiative aligns with ongoing efforts to bridge the skills gap in the sector by providing structured training modules and certification aligned with national occupational standards.
Training structure and curriculum
The programme will include classroom instruction and practical training sessions covering areas such as food and beverage service, customer handling and basic operational procedures in hospitality environments. THSC said the curriculum has been developed in line with industry requirements.
Participants will also receive training in soft skills, including communication, workplace behavior and service etiquette, which are considered essential for employment in hospitality roles.
Focus on employability and placements
The organisations stated that the initiative aims to enhance employability among youth by preparing them for immediate entry into the workforce. THSC said efforts will be made to facilitate job placements for trained candidates through industry partnerships.
Diageo India said the programme forms part of its broader corporate social responsibility efforts focused on skill development and livelihood creation. The company added that trained candidates may find opportunities in hotels, restaurants and related service sectors.
Industry demand for skilled workforce
Hospitality industry participants have highlighted a growing demand for trained personnel as travel and tourism activity continues to expand across India. Employers are increasingly seeking candidates with formal training and certification in service operations.
THSC said initiatives such as this are intended to support industry growth by creating a pipeline of skilled workers who can meet operational requirements across different segments of the sector.
Implementation and rollout
The training programme is expected to be conducted in phases, with batches of candidates undergoing instruction at designated training centres. The organisations indicated that monitoring and assessment mechanisms will be in place to track progress and outcomes.
Officials said the programme may be expanded in the future depending on its effectiveness and industry demand for trained professionals.
Current status
As of April 2026, the THSC-Diageo India training initiative has been launched, with enrolment and training activities underway for the first batch of participants across selected locations in India.
