Wynn Al Marjan Island Ras Al Khaimah 2027: Untold Story of Two Eras
Wynn Al Marjan Island Ras Al Khaimah 2027 meets Ras Al Khaimah Hotel's 50th year, as old and new hospitality shape the emirate's next chapter.
In the rendering, a slender tower rises from a curved island, with a marina tucked behind a long stone breakwater. Boats dot the turquoise water. This is how the Wynn Al Marjan Island Ras Al Khaimah 2027 project looks on paper. The real resort has not yet opened. Its scheduled arrival in September 2027 is already shaping a small emirate.
Two Milestones in One Year
Two milestones will define Ras Al Khaimah in 2027. The first is the Wynn Al Marjan Island opening 2027. The second is the golden jubilee of Ras Al Khaimah Hotel, the oldest hotel in the emirate. This Ras Al Khaimah Hotel 50th anniversary lands in the same year as a US$5.7 billion resort. Few destinations hold two such different chapters at once.
Wynn Resorts plans a Wynn Al Marjan Island resort with 1,530 accommodations and 22 restaurants, bars and lounges. It will also include entertainment, retail, wellness facilities and a full service marina. That makes it a 1530 room Wynn resort built as one connected experience. It marks the first arrival of Wynn Resorts UAE operations and of the brand in the Middle East.
Wynn Al Marjan Island Ras Al Khaimah 2027: A Market Growing Fast
The Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority reports steady gains. Visitors rose from 1.12 million in 2022 to 1.35 million in 2025. The first half of 2026 brought more than 670,000 visitors, the strongest first half on record. Domestic arrivals climbed 47 percent. That Ras Al Khaimah visitor growth came despite disruption to international travel.
The ambition is larger still. Authority chief executive Phillipa Harrison wants more than 3.5 million visitors a year by 2030. Accommodation is expected to grow from about 8,700 keys across 61 hotels to around 17,000. This Ras Al Khaimah tourism forecast 2030 explains why developers are arriving. It also shows the pace of Ras Al Khaimah tourism growth that leaders expect.
The pipeline reaches well beyond Wynn. Rotana Ras Al Khaimah at The Mangroves and SAIJ Mountain Lodge by Mantis are near term additions. Janu, Four Seasons, Fairmont, W Hotels, Nobu Hotels, Nikki Beach and The Unexpected sit in longer term plans. Such Ras Al Khaimah hotel development leans toward the top of the market. Anyone following luxury resort development UAE wide will find the list telling.
A Resort Designed as One Experience
Max Tappeiner, president of Wynn Al Marjan Island, knows the region already has fine hotels. “Simply building another beautiful hotel was never going to be enough,” he said. His answer is a connected model. Rooms, dining, wellness, nightlife, retail, beach and marina are designed to work together. Guests, he says, should always have something left to discover.
Other leaders see the effect already. Alison Grinnell of Marjan Hospitality says the opening brings a more diverse visitor with higher expectations. She expects it to reset the benchmark for service across the emirate. This is where luxury hotels in Ras Al Khaimah meet a new standard, and where UAE luxury tourism 2027 begins to take shape.
Established Hotels Respond
Established properties are not waiting. Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah reopened after a refurbishment with 203 rooms and suites. It cut its earlier inventory of 346 keys to create a more spacious product. Sofitel Al Hamra Beach Resort brought an international luxury brand to an established site.
Rixos Al Mairid Ras Al Khaimah is renovating all 324 rooms and suites in its main building. Completion is expected at the end of November 2026. A new kids club is due in 2027. General manager Ismail Alcay says returning guests should recognise what they love while finding a better resort. These Ras Al Khaimah hotel renovations show one answer to rising competition.
The Hotel on the Hill
Ras Al Khaimah Hotel chose a quieter path. It sits on a hill above the creek and the Hajar Mountains. It opened in 1977 and was inaugurated by Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi. Today it counts among the heritage hotels in UAE that hold real community memory.
General manager Irshad Syed joined in 2012. He says its main clients are domestic guests, especially Emiratis. Saqr Hall was the emirate's first wedding hall, and the Al Maha and Al Seif ballroom continues that role. Some staff joined in the late 1980s and still work there. One regular in his 90s still visits daily.
Syed plans selective upgrades in a style he calls modern classic. He is keeping the wood structure at the entrance. “Every city has an old town,” he said. A golden guest book records visits from leaders and celebrities. Heritage style villas are an early idea, though plans are not final.
Will It Be a Wynn Win?
The hope is a shared gain. Harrison says the authority wants to grow with its partners so that everyone benefits. Syed expects a larger population to lift local and corporate demand for his hotel. He also expects international guests to explore beyond the resorts.
The benefits, however, will not be automatic. Nearly doubling room supply by 2030 will intensify competition. Established hotels will need a clear reason to be chosen. These Ras Al Khaimah hotel market trends favor those who know their guests. Each case also adds to UAE hospitality investment and to the wider Ras Al Khaimah hospitality industry story.
