Food delivery major Zomato’s business-to-business grocery supply vertical Hyperpure has introduced a rapid delivery service, with delivery times ranging from 30 mins to four hours, said the company. This offering adds to Hyperpure’s usual next day delivery service.

The products under this service are priced higher than next day delivery, with a INR 99 fee for Express delivery, as per information on Hyperpure’s app.

Businesses are striving to shorten delivery times to same-day or within 2–4 hours, influenced by the growing impact of quick commerce.

ET on Wednesday reported how quick commerce is driving more ecommerce firms to conduct pilots in major cities to assess the feasibility of quicker deliveries based on stock availability, logistics and revenue considerations.

Flipkart-owned fashion platform Myntra is piloting M-Now, a quick delivery service offering delivery within 30 minutes to two hours in select Bengaluru pin codes.

Similarly, mother and baby care products retailer FirstCry has enabled same-day delivery in about 40 cities across India, its chief executive Supam Maheshwari said at an earnings call on November 14.

On October 9, ET reported that beauty retailer Nykaa launched a 10-minute delivery pilot in Borivali, Mumbai

Even new age logistics firm Delhivery is planning to start intracity third party quick commerce logistics service, offering brands shared warehouses from where the Gurgaon-based company will make dispatches within a 1–2-hour timeline.

Zomato's Hyperpure business saw a 98 percent year-on-year revenue growth, reaching INR 1,473 crore in the September quarter. Overall, Zomato reported a 68 percent YoY increase in its operating revenue for the July-September quarter this year at INR 4,799 crore, with a five-fold jump in its net profit for the quarter at INR 176 crore.

Hyperpure previously came under the radar after Telangana food safety officials flagged several concerns at one of its warehouses on October 29. Issues included open premises exposed to the outside environment without proper insect proof screen, the presence of houseflies, and mushroom packets labelled with future packaging dates.

Zomato chief executive Deepinder Goyal later clarified that the future packaging date was a manual typing error by the vendor, who was then delisted from the platform.
