Subway Blueprint Restaurant Prototype EMEA Expansion 2026 Unveiled
Subway Blueprint Restaurant Prototype EMEA Expansion 2026 brings digital ordering, breakfast and Subway After Dark as the chain plans to nearly double in EMEA.
Subway Blueprint Restaurant Prototype EMEA Expansion 2026 is now underway as the sandwich giant introduces a new restaurant format across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The chain plans to nearly double its footprint in the region over the next five years. Beginning January 1, all new Subway restaurants and remodels in EMEA will adopt the format.
The new concept is called Blueprint. It brings digitally connected restaurants, expanded ordering options and new menu offerings for customers throughout the day. Learn more on the official Subway website.
Subway Blueprint Restaurant Prototype EMEA Expansion 2026 Supports Growth Strategy
The initiative is a key part of Subway's multiyear growth plan. It focuses on modernizing the guest experience. It also aims to improve restaurant economics for franchisees.
Tracy Gehlan is president of Subway EMEA. She said guests want to eat their way and on their own schedule. She added that Blueprint is how the brand delivers on that. For franchisees, she said it means stronger economics and a stronger brand built for the long term.
Digital Ordering and Warmer Design
Blueprint restaurants feature warmer interiors and streamlined layouts. Customers can still order from employees at the customization counter. They can also use Subway self service kiosks to browse the menu and build their meals. Mobile ordering and delivery are built into the format.
The design puts more focus on freshness. Vegetables, sauces and freshly baked bread are displayed prominently. Order ready screens and pickup areas simplify the experience for guests and employees.
New Breakfast, Coffee and Grab and Go Options
The biggest change is the push to win more dining occasions beyond lunch. Subway is adding an expanded breakfast menu. A new coffee program uses 100 percent Arabica beans.
A new Grab and Go offering targets busy sites such as transportation hubs. It features freshly prepared meals for immediate purchase.
Subway After Dark Pilot in the Netherlands
Subway is also testing an evening concept called Subway After Dark. It is currently being piloted in the Netherlands. From 6 p.m., participating restaurants switch to warmer lighting, a new music playlist and dedicated uniforms.
Digital menu boards then show a more indulgent lineup. It includes mac and cheese, footlong pizzas and loaded waffle fries. Drinks and desserts are also on offer. The concept positions Subway as a stop for dinner and late night visits.
Marketing Campaign and Rollout Plans
Blueprint also launches a regional marketing platform called Get Your Own Way. It focuses on customization and individual preferences. The campaign will run across advertising, social media, packaging, digital platforms and restaurants.
The first Blueprint restaurants opened this summer in the Netherlands and the U.K. The campaign is already active across EMEA. Subway After Dark and Grab and Go will roll out based on market conditions and restaurant demand.
The rollout follows a year of positive sales and restaurant growth in the region. The growth target also includes India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Subway operates more than 35,000 restaurants worldwide, all independently owned and operated by franchisees.
