Angelo's Opens Italian Restaurant at Reading's Station Hill
Angelo's has opened in Reading's Station Hill, bringing traditional Italian cuisine with a modern twist to Friar's Walk under restaurateur Angelo Colao, founder of Topo Gigio and Dolce Vita.
Angelo's has officially opened in Reading town centre, introducing a new Italian dining destination at Friar's Walk in the Station Hill development. The restaurant welcomed its first guests on June 26 and marks the latest venture by restaurateur Angelo Colao, who aims to bring traditional Italian cuisine with a modern approach back to the heart of the town.
New Italian Restaurant Opens at Station Hill
The restaurant occupies a 1,069-square-foot unit on Friar's Walk within the Station Hill area. Angelo's offers a menu inspired by classic Italian cooking while incorporating contemporary touches, reflecting the concept's promise of serving traditional dishes with a modern twist.
The opening follows the signing of a 15-year lease for the premises, which was announced in April 2025, paving the way for the restaurant's launch in Reading's evolving town centre.
Experienced Restaurateur Returns to Reading Centre
Angelo's is the latest business launched by restaurateur Angelo Colao, who previously established the well-known Reading restaurants Topo Gigio and Dolce Vita. With the new opening, Colao returns to the town centre, expanding his presence in the local hospitality market.
According to the restaurant, the new venture aims to combine authentic Italian recipes with warm hospitality, creating a welcoming environment for both residents and visitors.
Long-Term Commitment to Town Centre Dining
The restaurant has secured a 15-year lease for its Friar's Walk premises, highlighting a long-term commitment to the Station Hill development. The location forms part of the wider regeneration of Reading town centre, which continues to attract new food, beverage and retail businesses.
Its position within Station Hill places the restaurant close to Reading railway station, making it accessible to commuters, shoppers and visitors.
Focus on Authentic Italian Hospitality
Commenting on the opening, Angelo Colao said the team is excited to bring Angelo's to Station Hill and become part of the area's growing business community. He added that the restaurant's vision is to provide guests with an authentic Italian dining experience centred on quality food and welcoming service.
The launch further strengthens Reading's restaurant offering as new hospitality businesses continue to establish themselves within the town's redevelopment projects.
